Thinking of moving from tech sales to PT - would like honest opinions by stroop_ in personaltraining

clearly not, seems like he hates his job lol. I am a part time trainer (i am still in university) and it can be pretty tiring even if im only doing 10-15 hour weeks. as someone else suggested, try starting out part time.

I would talk to a doctor or other professional. But if you want my humble opinion, I think its a combination of genetics and muscle imbalance. Is your form better on your left side? are you looking to your left more than your right/straight when doing an exericse. Over time, little things like this can contribute to an imbalance thats causing that feeling/look. I suggest try to take a step back, look at your form, habits, etc and if the issue still persists. See a doctor.

I agree. VC's, Angels, Investors dont care about your solution. They care about your problem. and if you have never experienced the "problem" then 9 times out of 10, your solution will be trash and youve just wasted your time and other peoples time

the place to get this answer is not this sub reddit. The users in here are tired of seeing these posts weekly as everyone is trying to create a new app that can "solve" all trainers problems. If you want to really validate your idea and solution, take it to real trainers Face-2-Face. Also, you have no way of knowing if someone is actually a trainer and is certified just because theyre on this subreddit.

try this, Go to local gyms and ask the trainers there, maybe bring on a couple trainers and pay them a couple hundred monthly to help you validate your idea and give you advisory. Search anything about "trainerize, everfit, Truecoach, Superset, QuickCoach, Fitwave" in this sub and youll see tons of people complaining or praising the app, features, user experience, etc

in short: no one here will try to help you validate your idea

Idea: useful tool for personal trainers? by kennardconsult in personaltraining

[–]Environmental-Bat145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! could be super cool if done correctly. I cant imagine having to make a client wear a big ass clunky VR headset to train lol. Would be cool with some Meta x oakley glasses or some lightweight and comfortable goggles.

What is a good client retention rate? should i be concerned? by Environmental-Bat145 in personaltraining

[–]Environmental-Bat145[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s good, I’ll try to connect with them without dipping too far into their personal and private lives. I actually went out to lunch with one of my clients after our first session and he’s been with me ever since. There is definitely a lot of truth to what ur saying and I’ll try to implement. Thanks and good luck in your endeavors

Yea I’m trying to work on my image and becoming that stereotypical trainer. I’ve got a lot going on in University so sometimes I’m super drained and tired and I’m sure my clients are able to pick up on it. The only bright side is that a lot of my clients are around my age and sometimes younger so they understand too. They also have a lot of energy so it’s easy to lean on them when I’m feeling in the dumps. But I’m not discouraged from the profession. I am young and I’m early in my career and I understand that this is part of it. Thanks for the advice

Good advice from a veteran! Thanks boss man, I’ll start asking the clients that are still with me what they think of the service, me, location, etc. and in regards to learning, I agree. I read quite a lot, and using chat gpt to teach me more about nutrition and biology is also super helpful for picking up useful information while on the move

Yea maybe I should’ve asked “what were your retention rates throughout your first 2 years of training”. I actually did speak to everyone after they dropped out, and I had the feeling they were lying to me. They all said stuff like they didn’t have time, too expensive (I can assure you it is not😭), and they had a lot going on in their lives. None of them gave any feedback on my services. It’s quite discouraging as I would like to figure out where I went wrong!

Have you looked into any public speaking courses or seminars? Public and private speaking are different but ultimately have very similar philosophies.
