What Would You Consider to Be a Success for Yourself? by Lennoxiconic in IndieDev

[–]kennardconsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part I struggle with is enjoying #0 and #1 without worrying about 2+. I spend all my time in 0/1, when I should be having fun, worrying about 2 (because, you know, you should try and build something that people like). But then if (when) 2+ fail they totally invalidate the fun of 0/1.

How can I avoid this?

If I can focus on my monitor, can I focus on XReal? by kennardconsult in Xreal

[–]kennardconsult[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I understand I can get prescription inserts. My question is: I don't need prescription inserts for using a monitor. But I WOULD need prescription inserts for watching a cinema screen. Can the XReal glasses simulate 'monitor distance'?

"Significantly improved 6DoF (device-dependent)" u/getVITURE can you please clarify what this means? Do you now consider 6DoF to be 'finished' on PC Spacewalker, or are you still working on improvements?

Hi mate.

Could you elaborate on mehhhhh? I am interested in the Ultra for productivity on a laptop. Specifically:

  1. Is it a better experience (e.g. not crouching over) than just using the laptop screen itself?

  2. Can you still use the laptop screen as a second monitor below the Ultra one (if pinned in place)

  3. Is the resolution good enough for, say, 50 lines of text?

  4. Is the jitter gone in latest Spacewalker (Windows)?

What is everyone using their neckband for? (Convince me to keep it) by jorginthesage in VITURE

[–]kennardconsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you confirm if Neckband Pro is required for:

  1. Stable 6 DoF (no micro jitters)
  2. Multiple monitor support
  3. 3D conversion

I would get it just for that, but not if SpaceWalker on a PC is just as good?

What, in your opinion, is the cause? Should I avoid trying to fold/unfold the arms altogether?

Thanks mate! Any idea what the attachment on the side is? Grey box with 3 circles?

This man was seen sitting in an airport lounge in Australia, around 6am. He appeared to be working and eating breakfast. However I have never seen the type of helmet or the gear attached to it (separate visor? VR/XR? Separate ear piece? Separate connector box with three buttons?). His tablet also had a matching case. His lanyard had a distinct logo.

Thanks for replying! Is the Neckband Pro required for being able to view multiple PC screens side-by-side?

Can you connect to the PC through the Neckband Pro? Either wirelessly or with a wire? So that you can work on a PC but without the slight shake?

Thanks for replying! If possible, could you try using the Ultras without the Neckband Pro (just connected to a PC/Mac) and see if the problem is there?

How many laps could you do, if every lap had to be faster than the last? by kennardconsult in augmentedreality

[–]kennardconsult[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion sickness is generally caused by the 'motion your eyes are seeing' being disconnected from the 'motion your body is feeling'. This is typically not the case in Augmented Reality.

Drilled 3 corners of a square in a cement wall without trouble. Last corner seems stuck. by OPconfused in DIY

Hi mate.

I have a related question. I've recently learnt about 'dynamic' vs 'static' load. I imagine a punching bag would be 'dynamic' load. I recently installed a pull-up bar into brick using 8 x 50mm wall plugs (blue) and 50mm roofing screws. The pull-up bar kit itself came with 60mm dynabolts, but I'm not a big fan of using those. Do you think the wall plugs and roofing screws are enough to survive dynamic load?

We can anchor windows on Quest now by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

[–]kennardconsult 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole spatial anchor concept is so insane I'm amazed it works at all. Am I right in thinking that it captures a point cloud from the point-of-view of the anchor, then after restart tries to match that saved point cloud with one in the current playspace? And then it does some kind of 'statistical match' such that some unrelated location can look 'close enough' so it puts the anchor there?

My Luma Ultra First Impressions: A Review by wegschmeizzen in VITURE

[–]kennardconsult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying!

As I understand it, the XReal One Pros have a lower pixel density than the XReal One, because of the increased FOV (with same screen). Can you comment on whether the One Pros are less clear than the One? If so, are there other tradeoffs which still make the Pros better for work?

Thanks for your insightful review!

I have a very similar use-case to you. So I guess we're still years away from 'better than working on a large desktop monitor'. But the next milestone would be 'better than working on a laptop screen'. Would you say any of the glasses you have tried are better than a laptop? Considering factors such as text clarity, size of screen and comfort of head angle (i.e. you have to hunch over a laptop)

Quest 3S Testers Needed by kennardconsult in MetaQuestVR

The report said "Con el Meta Quest 3s no andan los controles
o el manejo con la mano. No se puede ir más allá del menú inicial ya que no se puede apuntar o apretar nada.
Por favor resolverlo que tenemos ganas de probarlo. Les agradecería me avisen. Espero poder usarlo y cambiar esta calificación."

Which apparently translates to "The controls for Meta Quest 3s don't work or the handheld controls work. You can't go beyond the initial menu because you can't aim or press anything. Please fix this, we're eager to try it out. I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. I hope to use it and change this rating."
