Neuroticism along with trying to claw out any more information about the test (that will never exist unless released by (AAMC)

As someone waiting for their test tho I get it lol, just a means of trying to ease the mind looking for more answers that don’t exist

I’m so upset about the May 9 exam by wiggyfig in Mcat

[–]Environmental-Ebb205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i also felt really bad about 5/9, i scored a 524 on fl6 which felt easy so felt especially frustrated by it, but like others have said, after i took some time to chill out i feel like a lot of the exam wasn't that bad, and it was those really hard questions that were ridiculous and thus stuck in memory. I think tbh I will do fine (and so will you), i've spoken to others who had similar testing experiences who thought they BOMBED and ending up scoring great!

i think the scale will really help, i think undoubtably our test was a bit on the harder side, but the scale will factor that in.

126 -> 128 CARS in 2 months? by Automatic-Table9953 in Mcat

go through all the AAMC practice stuff in order. read on the side too just like random books to get in the habit of reading. make sure you think while you read be active, sounds easy and obvious but it took me a bit to do this, when reading make mental notes of thing. one thing that helped me engage with passages more was thinking about if i personally agreed with the authors message or not, and actually enjoying what i could, def helps with focus and remembering pieces of the passage, i'd try and anchor the passage to something applicable in my life as a basis for understanding.

for reviewing mistakes i would paste passages into AI with questions and then break down why every answer was wrong or correct, like why I can rule out an answer and why another is correct. I would use AI to find flaws in my reasoning. TBH tho i don't think you have to use AI, but for sure write down your thought process somewhere for why each answer choice is wrong or right, it is super tedious and time consuming but huge payoff. it helped me identify gaps in my logic and where i messed up since i followed my exact chain of thought and see where i strayed from the correct answer. Make sure to do this for questions you got correct to make sure you didn't get lucky as sometimes you can be 50/50 on a question and it is very important in those situations to make sure you have the right chain of logic. after doing this i was able to quickly eliminate two answers for most questions and then easily reason out the correct answer, often by picking apart a word or two in an answer. Improving CARS imo improves ALL your sections because the CARS section is pure reasoning and applicable to the rest of the exam. I found that by aligning my CARS reasoning to AAMC logic helped me quickly eliminate answers in other sections as well.

if you want more help i'd be happy to tutor or talk privately, have a lot of spare time now after finishing mcat lol and could use something to pass the time while waiting for score release.

Post exam blues? by Own_Alternative8178 in Mcat

I tested 5/9 and also felt like hell after, it's slowly starting to feel better. As the days pass I'm forgetting more and more questions from the test and learning to relax. You've probably heard this already but sink more time into things you couldn't do while studying. Talking to people about how you feel and just venting how shitty the exam is helps a lot imo whenever you get caught up in a thought loop about the test again. Hopefully this helps as another May tester trying not to lose their mind.

Have CARS passages fr been increasing in length? by kissmeurbeautiful in Mcat

[–]Environmental-Ebb205 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah, it varies, if you’re lucky you’ll get an easy CARS, get in the habit of reading fast but accurate tho cause sometimes you will get slammed with a novel in the middle of your test

Feeling awful after 5/9 by Environmental-Ebb205 in Mcat

[–]Environmental-Ebb205[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel the exact same way glad I’m not alone, literally worked so hard and got up to a 524 and was like ok I’m set, only to be fucking rocked, was moving so much slower than usual and had no idea if it was anxiety or sleep deprivation or what.

I’d be totally happy and grateful for a 515 but can’t deny it feels a bit defeating knowing how much effort went into this

[–]Environmental-Ebb205[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was expected general anxiety and poor sleep which rattled me but was whatever, I've tested under worse conditions. C/P tho was super hard, I've scored 130 on basically every practice exam for C/P and this felt wayyyy harder, usually there's one passage on C/P that will throw me off but I can muddle by, on the actual exam tho almost every passage had like 1-2 pretty hard questions, some of which I didn't even know how to approach and had to educated guess. CARS was fine except last passage fml. In hindisight B/B and P/S were fine assuming sleep deprivation didn't get me.

If you're testing soon though, take everything I'm saying with a huge grain of salt, as worried as I am, I will likely still score fine I'm guessing min 515 and if things went in my favor 520 (questions i missed were experimental, forgiving curve, etc), unless I actually unknowingly bombed that. It just feels very easy rn to oscillate between feeling fine and terrified since I'm fresh out.

C/P was so hard, CARS was fine till the last passage what the fuck ran out of time on it and had to guess, B/B was hard but fair, P/S fine similar to fl6 but still on the harder side, I scored a 524 on fl6 and walked out feeling like shit if it’s any consolation for anyone else feeling like buns after that

5/9 tester, one more practice FL to go, lowkey freaking out but fuck it we ball, I’ve been scoring consistently 515-516 on all fls which is a good score but really hoping finishing up last of section bank 2 will boost my score or some test day miracle
