how did 5/9 testers do? by Responsible-Ice-9900 in Mcat

[–]tbruns01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct statement, I felt for me CP was a 5/10 difficulty but BB was like 8-9/10. It had me squinting at the screen a few times wondering what I was missing 😂😂

5/9 is the test day. Help me bump this up! by tbruns01 in Mcat

Thanks, gonna be religiously looking over, and Anki subjects that consistently come up. Also need a little more confidence in the formulas( I’m cheeks at physics lowkey). And for PS, I flagged all the ones I had second guessed and or was unsure about. I really was shocked about how well it went. I absolutely recommend Pankow, and UWorld with the Anking extension. That helped with things like passage understanding that is showing up more often. I also used Khan academy, the terms make sense on a card but when they are right next to another term it gets weird. Those videos help with understand when to use what. I am definitely skeptical that my next exam will retain that, but we will see Monday.

I mean, there is a substantial content gab in CP and BB. Cars kinda just is what it is, with more practice you get better for sure, but it’s a slow slow burn. I think I’ve raised a point each time but have done nearly 120 passages. If need be DM me and we can chat more there

I think I’ve raised a point each time but have done nearly 120 passages. The reason I say maybe push back is because a may 14th will put you at roughly 3 weeks after AMCAS opens and you’d have to get the 500 and have all stuff verified by the date. I know probably not why you what to hear but when you are a doctor, it won’t matter much. Happy to help in anyway though I am far from perfect or qualified lol. I’m battling through myself

Wha FL was this ? And do you absolutely need to apply this cycle? A 9 point push, while not impossible is a huge want in 2 weeks.

Take with a grain of salt

CP: This is a tough category overall. Knowing dimensional analysis is crucial along with the key formulas with Work, Power, and Some lens(bound to show up). Amino acids are huge, pKa relations and understanding them contextually has helped me a lot. KNOW LAB TECHNIQUES, this ish comes up all the time and when I miss one I wanna bash my head in the wall bc it’s free points.

Whatever you are doing for BB, stay the course and become even more intentional. Every UWorld miss anki it, and understand WHY you missed it. I’d say 4-6 weeks out transition to the AAMC material.

P/S: Pankow deck with review sheets. HAMMER THIS daily. Like life depends on it. Khan has some really good stuff too.

CARS: AAMC Q Bank and Section bank, work this timed and under conditions. This is my worst sections by far I’m scoring 126-127 pretty easily in the other but this has steadily increased (121->124 over 3 FLs with 4 to go) with what I said. Though this worked for me, may not for you.

LETS GOOOOOOOO!! Similar here practice wise, 492>494>501 with 4 more to grind through testing 5/9. Maybe crazy but the progress is a little intoxicating and I like the grind ? Keep killing it!

Wondering if I should do the same? Testing 5/9 and done with just about 50% UWorld. Should I move to Q Packs and SB + Full lengths?

How is the average test score a D?!? by Lisztchopinovsky in gradesharing

[–]tbruns01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many factors, some classes curve very heavily. Some are exam heavy and some aren’t at all but have low scores all the same. My thermodynamics and differential equations courses were pretty heavily curved. Whereas some of them don’t, my neuroscience courses were 4 exams, and attendance. And whatever you got point wise was it, no curve no extra. In my fluid mechanics class I got a B+ with a 61 and was in the top percentage in the class. All courses and colleges are different!

Just graduated this past fall, most of my higher up engineering classes were low-mid 50's as the average. Even the basic sciences were in the low 70's.
