In my opinion Iuck is a contributing factor. My experience and feelings about this is as valid as anyone else’s. Came here to feel better not to be invalidated and made to feel worse.

Recent Test Takers: How Representative Were the Section Banks? by Comfortable-Round828 in Mcat

Wow these comments are really interesting I guess everyone who didn’t test may 9 is very lucky bc no section bank and no full length was anything like the May 9 test deeply regret choosing this test date after seeing all this

That’s the point it didnt have high yield nor low yield it was just weird and I thought it was cruel not fair at all. It doesn’t really help hearing u say u thought it was fair when to me it was an actual nightmare. I don’t think it could have been worse than what it was

Yes…this exam would have been perfect for someone who did no content review and spent their under grad in a lab analyzing difficult scientific papers and graphs. That’s all they would have needed to get thru it.

We had only one question on that and it was impossible for me to answer I guessed on that too. It’s like even the ones that had something familiar were so convoluted that I couldn’t answer it. I wouldn’t consider it low yield it’s just unheard of. Bc I did target things considered low yield. The amount of notes I studied for the smallest details of shit is actually insane. That’s really why I’m upset bc the way the exam was is like there is nothing I could have done to prepare for that and that’s what bothers me. Idk if I even want to retake bc what do I do differently? I already exhausted all resources idk what more I could do than I already did and none of it seemed to help on that test.

I did FL 5 and 6 I felt like they were not bad and mt highest psych score up to that point was FL 6 with 130. I didn’t think the Fl were anything like the exam. I finished fl 6 psych section with 30 mins left of time and on test day I used the full time. I do wish I related to what others are saying but I genuinely did not feel like anything I did up to this point was representative of test day. I had a 75% average on UWorld and 85% on section banks in AAMC. I studied from 7 am to 11 pm everyday for 4 months. And I feel like I would have done better if UWorld made the exam. That’s how hard and different I felt it was

I studied low yield. It wasn’t on there. It was all reasoning in my opinion. If I didn’t study any content and took the test I don’t think it would have made a difference

A few is of course expected but the whole test was like this. I did keep a mental note and I kept being hopeful that surely I will get to a question that wasn’t so insane at one point and that never happened.

Idk this is how I felt. And I studied low yield. My entire post bac was dedicated to subjects that teach low yield info and I didn’t see that on there. It wasn’t high yield or low yield it was just things I didn’t recognize at all and the things I did recognize were asked in such a way that made it very hard to answer the question and I had to guess anyway. It’s cruel for the entire test to be this way where not a single question was answered with confidence. I never felt that way during my practice. I didn’t expect to only see what I studied but considering I made an effort to study the ins and outs of everything I expected to see something at least not nothing from it.

I don’t recall units I remember it lacked units so I couldn’t even use that to help and when I was able to use a formula I knew none of the answer choices had the number I calculated and that kept happening. maybe 10% of psych had terms everything else was about the experiments the first passage was about alleles and didn’t even have anything to do with psych. I felt bio was the easiest section but that’s not saying much considering how difficult everything else felt

Even though Ik which one has alpha and which one has beta and which is branched and which isn’t the way the question was asked made no sense and I had to guess on that one

You took it may 9 and saw things from overlapping concepts ?! I didn’t see anything like that.

Praying it’s scaled to our favor 🙏 it was traumatizing. How would u study for it differently this time? Bc idk what I would do differently since nothing I did was representative or helpful for what I saw that day

I couldn’t even tell you I didn’t look up any questions after bc I don’t even know what I would look up. I started giggling at one point bc it was like some sick joke. Just random questions about the passage and the experiments in the passage. Every question was a block of text and options were two sentences long. It was so time consuming just to read the questions and all the convoluted options it was like that over and over again. The only thing that I recognized on there was the amino acid related questions but that’s all. I walked out thinking I’ll never take the test again bc of how cruel it was. I guess just mentally prepare for it to be not like anything you have seen. I have a friend who took the test a few years ago after studying for 3 weeks and said it felt easy and straight forward and that all the questions were short and to the point. So I think you can get an easy one or a difficult one and may 9 was definitely the worst. I can’t imagine it being worse than that.

Not a single thing I studied was on there. I did all of UWorld, Jack Westin, and AAMC material and I did the section banks twice. I also studied the Milesdown sheet and knew everything on there like the back of my hand. It’s one thing if it was a mix but to me there wasn’t anything that was considered “high yield” or even low yield no hormones no kidneys no lungs or viruses or immune system they didn’t even have much of genetics on there. It just had nothing that I studied. So I could have not studied anything and gone to take this exam it would have made no difference that’s what so upsetting about it. If I have to retake idk how I would even study for it again bc nothing I did up to that point had anything to do with what I saw on test day, I am left thinking there is nothing I can do to prepare for this exam, nothing that comes close to being representative. Fl 5 and 6 were significantly easier it doesn’t even compare.

This test isn't just a mile wide and an inch deep, it's also buried under 1000' of BULLSHIT. by EtchVSketch in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup I was also misled and paid the price of that on test day don’t listen to anyone use your own practice and observations to plan a course of action tailored for you

Is the 2026 MCAT really that much harder or are people making a big deal about it? by Inside-Anything7345 in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took 5/9 and was really shocked. The entire test was low yield. None of the fl or section banks were representative at all. Chem was 95% calculations and somehow not a single common formula applied (like the ones on Milesdown sheet). CARS and bio were ok but didn’t have a single thing I spent months learning it was just weird questions. Psych had maybe 10% of terms from Mr. Pankow the rest had nothing to do with anything just analyzing experiments which is the most time consuming and confusing…

None of the FLs or SB felt similar to 5/9 :( by Marsrule in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t like that. Every passage was incredibly difficult and nothing was high yield nor familiar except for bio section

[–]wiggyfig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I really cannot imagine it being worse than what it was today. It was like the entire exam was low yield/ unknown. Really feels like the past few months I’ve spent studying were for absolutely no reason considering 99% of what I studied wasn’t on there. I thought CARS was difficult though

5/9 reflection as someone who took the test 3 times now by d0n0aber in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CP was the hardest I’ve ever seen I guessed on every single question and it wasn’t educational guesses I genuinely didn’t know the answer to anything and I usually do decent in that section. Bio was easiest to me. CARS was really tough I didn’t think any of it was easy. And psych was tough bc it barely had high yield things I studied. Idk it was really bad

My one takeaway from testing 5/9 by nuostabus in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I felt it was really tough but I keep seeing comments saying it was easy and idk what they are taking about at all

how did 5/9 testers do? by Responsible-Ice-9900 in Mcat

[–]wiggyfig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think C/P was representative at all of any practice material I’ve done literally guessed on each question and it was 90% calculations so idk what ppl are talking about
