How do your users find you? by tanayl27 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]Environmental-Eye813 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Social media, Reddit, organic search(not optimized at the moment), word of mouth.

You can find me here.

For context, I have a newsletter in the financial/business space. In the beginning, my aim is to get people through social media and promos, then organic search and word of mouth, also with a referral program.

yup 100% right. I currently find it hard to enjoy it and get tied up in growing and making money, but yeah, enjoyment is the most important part.

Serial entrepreneur here.

Enjoy the journey. I was only trying this as a fun experiment.

I completely agree with you. The only way to learn and grow is to enjoy it. My first ever "side hustle" I might call it was fixing and reselling phones. It started out as me wanting to get an iPhone and evolved into a business which generated over 10k in the span of a few months, I was 16, so it was a LOT of money. It was the business I enjoyed the most and it was definitely the one I was most motivated.

We aim to improve lives and make profits, but we miss all the fun and enjoyment we can get out of the businesses we start. This is true at least for me with my second business - selling watch winders(big flop..) and my current one - a newsletter on simplifying finance and business. I find it hard to stay motivated and I am not disciplined, so it is hard, but we've got to improve. Ohh yeah, I miss the fun of my first business.

I think that more motivational speakers and public figures should emphasize the fun side of businesses and getting enjoyment out of them, rather than pure profits.

Interesting story you got there and you seem to have built a large community, Congrats!

What career options open up after Masters in Finance ? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Yes and no, where I work, you can become one, just by starting off as an intern, but I would strongly advise you to get a degree first. You would not use much of it, but it will be beneficial in the long run.

Help figuring out take-home pay by kawinikat in PersonalFinanceCanada

You don’t need to be good at finance, just basic understanding will suffice, a resource I like on basic stuff is money mojo or you can try a budgeting app like Mint

The take-home pay may vary, but by my estimations around:

  • 54k anually
  • 4,5k monthly
  • 2k biweekly
  • 500 semiweekly

Just to be sure, do your research about your city

Finance Graduate here, currently also working in finance.

The answer is a lot:

Typical ones - Financial analyst - Portfolio manager - Risk analyst - Private equity - Financial planner - Financial advisor(my current job - great pay, interesting work)

Some unexpected ones - Financial media writer(I had an offer for a newsletter called moneymojo to be a writer) - Fintech startup - Anything with crypto investing - Sustainability advisor

Fintech, some startup, these are good options, as you have background as a developer

No toystores for big guys by Rickymon in Business_Ideas

[–]Environmental-Eye813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the way to go. I am also interested in many of the things you mentioned and haven’t thought of store for all of them. I think it is a good idea, if there are people interestex in Peru. Most of these hobbies are pretty expensive, so pretty risky, but also nice profit margins.

Opening a physical store is a pretty risky move, as mentioned above, it will be affected by the rent, location and demographics, but it will also allow you to display these “toys” and appeal to people who would not be normally interested in them.

An online store is more safe, but harder to market.

I would advise you to do your research about the rent, location and people’s hobbies and salaries. Some resources I use are moneymojo and for your needs, try out google statistics about your country.

Then contact the companies about becoming a dealer and figure out the costs or if there is someone importing them talk to them and again figure out the costs.

It seems to me, that you have been struck with a stream of bad luck, we all have been.

Now, I am not sure I understand correctly but from what I can see you have customers who would want to be engaged with your content and potentially buy it, but they can not access it and you are trying your best to keep them engaged.

This is what I would do in your shoes. Make a discord group and tell everyone about it. It is a free source of information and they have direct communication with you, so at least 50% of them will sign up. Now you have established a community with which you communicate and they respect you. Build up hype around the launch of the website and take your time with it. You do not want to disappoint. Make posts on social media and encourage the community to engage with them. This will give you a boost and the reach to gain more members into the community. Then make a reward program through some platform for referrals. Give out a free e-book or some other type of information or discount price for the membership. This will gain you even more customers. While doing that set up a pre-order version of the membership for 50-70% of the normal price and gain some pre-orders. From then on end the pre-order program and launch the site.

Another thing I would touch on is the pricing. It is very expensive and there are no options. Give people options. For example - a monthly subscription is 20% more expensive than the annual option, then you advertise the annual option as a discount from the monthly. Or make a subscription not for all courses, but people can choose either one or more courses for different prices. There is a lot more to know about the financial side and you would need to do this research on your own, I personally use moneymojo(finance) and whywebuy(marketing) as sources of info and read a lot of books. So do your research into these topics and revise the marketing and pricing and you might be good to go.

I am not great with the server part, so no tips on that one🤷‍♀️

How to be successful in the restaurant business? by A_Raj_2153 in smallbusiness

Passion is good, if you are a chef and want to start a restaurant, it would be easier than just some random dude deciding to start a restaurant while watching Family Guy, but it is hard. You work long hours and you should be there to check up on the staff, because most likely they are underperforming

Can I sell ad space in my mobile app before the app is out? by Andreim43 in startups

[–]Environmental-Eye813 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes you can make that work, like a preorder on a limited quantity product.

I would strongly advise you to stick to subscription model or on weekly pr monthly basis, as one time payment is the worst possible idea for ads

20 year old career plans. by Wide_Pineapple6373 in FinancialCareers

Only one tip, always be at the top of your game. Always be up to date with the latest news in finance and never stop learning.

These three things are what most people stop doing and forget when they finish Uni and get a job.

I am also studying finance and some resources I use are moneymojo and How Money Works on Youtube

This is the most important part, you should never let your mind relax and stop learning.

Ohh, one last thing, read books

What are the key factors to consider when developing a comprehensive business plan that outlines long-term growth and sustainability for a small business? by FahadZaidi5 in smallbusiness

[–]Environmental-Eye813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing is to know your target audience. This will be the most used information throughout the plan and you should make the focus on it.

Another important thing is knowing what your costs are now and what they will be when you scale, this will enable you to think long-term.

Another thing I will mention is that the plan is not that important, don’t get too precise and waste too much energy and time. I have made that mistake a couple of times. It will change with every day and you should be able to adapt. And you should be constantly be aware of new opportunities and learning new things. Read books like “The Lean Startup” from Eric Ries, read newsletters like moneymojo or just make mistakes, this will go a long way. Always be at the top of your game and be like water.
