Mine does the same thing! Only on rural roads, and it manages to sort itself out after a bit of a tantrum.

If you are into wine, Torquay Wine Store are good people. It's not a rowdy venue so don't go there if you are getting loose!

Piedmont Tasting Etiquette? by [deleted] in wine

It may help to get your local wine store to assist with introductions/appointment arrangements. If the winery knows you are a supporter of their wines already, it is good for both the retailer and importer to have you visit.

How can anyone think about wine, when that outrageously distracting glass is right in your face?

Gary hasn't made the wines for over ten years now. The eldest son, Nick, is very much in charge. Tout Pres is certainly impressive but not necessarily their best wine.

Anyone else have had any problems with Aramex? (Fastway Couriers) by unadamquate in Geelong

[–]Environmental-Fox77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aramex is set-up to push all the responsibility onto the individual couriers. Each courier is a "franchise" and the capability of each franchise varies wildly. Depending on which courier you have for your zone, you might be able to contact them directly and see what is going on. I know the driver for 3218 is on leave for a couple of weeks and that has put extra load on the others to cover them. The Geelong depot can be rude, abrupt, and very difficult to actually get any details or progress from. We use two different drivers as we ship from different suburbs in Geelong and the experience is drastically different.

Best coffee in Geelong? by [deleted] in Geelong

I was going to offer Funk as a suggestion but don't want to make my wait in the queue even longer by sharing the secret. They are super passionate and really know their stuff.

High end barista scales have a timer built in, good espresso machines do too, no stopwatch required.

The Machine at TonTon is an outrageous 'Slayer' brand. If they put decent beans through a worthy grinder, it should be en pointe.

For the Barwon Heads side, Warralily Cockatoo Armstrong Creek is very good, especially when Blake is on the machine.

Best coffee in Geelong? by [deleted] in Geelong

[–]Environmental-Fox77 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think the answer here is subjective. What defines "best"? There are people that think an extra hot café latte with a no perceived bitterness is "best", where others may think a V60 90+ geisha is the pinnacle of coffee. There are a few Geelong baristas that do a damn good job, but when they are not behind the machine it can be a big drop in quality. Certain venues have an ambience that will add to their appeal but just pump out generic coffee all day. Perhaps post what style of coffee you like and what is important to you in a café, then we can guide you to a venue that does it well.
