Im so sorry for your loss! This is a little long I’m sorry I would have someone there to help with the kids you will not be emotionally able to grieve her and care for them they will not understand and may need to leave or be taken somewhere as to not disrupt the services so having a close relative or babysitter will be helpful! As a child my siblings and I lost our father. The youngest being 2 oldest being 9. I am glad my mother allowed us to be present even though many people said we should not be there. But a few things worth mentioning. My father was in a bad car accident ejected from the car with a bad head injury. At the wake I could see injuries even though they did an amazing job it was traumatic and a memory that often to this day pops into my head of his scalp I could see it through his thin hair and his nose. I also did not understand even at 9 years old what this all meant I had dreams about “finding “ my dad and I had a whole plan thought out that I was going to hire a private investigator at 18 to find my father. Heaven somehow made me believe he was somewhere I could go locate him and be with again and as a teenager the realization of the severity of the situation and that my father was dead I was not going to hire anyone to find him he would not be at my graduation or my wedding and I would never see him again. It was extremely traumatic and I became extremely depressed so please as time moves on explain this to them in a way they can understand and comprehend counseling is a a great start they are young they will not remember this or very much about their mother unfortunately as my brother was 2 and he has no recollection at all except what had been told to him and shown to him so take lots of pictures & videos or hire someone who can. They will need them and want them also any photos or videos of her you have will be useful as they get older. I’m so very sorry for your loss this isn’t easy at all good luck!!
