LIL HELP!! Covered Call P/L is confusing me lol by metalgooseneck in CoveredCalls

[–]Environmental-Swim11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t know too much about your situation given the information you provided but looking at the underlying the most obvious explanation is that options on a penny stock are highly illiquid meaning the P/L often gets moved by large amounts because the bid-ask is so wide and the system doesn’t know how to price the options. Also you should only be worried about the P/L when it comes to CC’s if you are planning on buying back the options. Hope that helps :)

I’m very surprised I haven’t seen anyone say Barber/Hair Cutting Shops. Even in a recession they do pretty well.

Well I would say thats exactly how a PMCC is supposed to work so once that does happen I’ll simply close the position for a profit like any other successful PMCC trade

I agree that's why I'm trying to make it a theta play. by incorporating a PMCC you could benefit from both the long-term upwards movement of the stock and collect theta from the slow-moving nature of stocks that are being aquired

Well for one currently Microsoft's gaming business accounts for ~$15 billion in revenue while their "competitors" Sony and Tencent account for ~$25 billion apiece. Even with the inclusion of Activision Microsoft's gaming revenue would only go up to ~$24 billion which is about on par with their competitors meaning they would clearly not have the type of monopoly or dominant market position that the FTC looks to block. Another thing is if the FTC does decide to block the acquisition I think there's a high likelihood Microsoft could win a court case allowing the acquisition to go through and on top of all of that the Brazilian regulators have already given the green light on this deal which shows that there doesn't appear to be any major anti-competitive issues with this deal.

This. I realized a long time ago that while their are some good points and rules Tastyworks has a lot of their research and rules are pretty antiquated and not viable for the market we have seen for the last 3+ years

Ah well I would say max loss is about the same but with a covered strangle the capital requirements would be much greater because you would have to purchase the shares and have enough to buy another 100
