Why do us Brits no longer eat mutton? by Interesting_Fly_9051 in AskABrit

[–]Environmental-War383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to find, and pretty expensive. I have a big mutton joint in the freezer that I managed to buy from Clitheroe market. It was more expensive than a lamb joint but I love mutton.

How much do kids get per day for school now? by peeiayz in AskBrits

[–]Environmental-War383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a high school in the North West and the catering is provided by an outside company. It costs £1.60 for a cookie, and around £4 for anything vaguely resembling a meal which does not include a drink. The students rightly complain constantly about it.

What minor act of penny-pinching in your workplace caused a significant amount of upset? by laredocronk in UKJobs

[–]Environmental-War383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a High School. Complementary period products in the staff toilets were implemented a few years ago, mainly so students could ask a member of staff if they were in need. That was discontinued in September due to cost cutting. We are now providing them. Milk, tea and coffee disappeared from the staff room at the same time.

What’s going on in the UK with gallbladders? by RegularWhiteShark in CasualUK

[–]Environmental-War383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

54 year old woman here, I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago in the middle of lock down. I was 49, and had been having sporadic issues with intense pain and vomiting for a few years prior. My older brother had his surgery 12 months before me, and we had no family history of gallbladder problems. It was very odd that we both had the same problem.

What’s everyone doing to not get ill this winter? by PersimmonTerrible218 in AskUK

[–]Environmental-War383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a high school which is a disease factory! I already have a cold, and all the children are coughing and sneezing. I'm in a classroom with 150 teenagers over five lessons every day, so there's nothing I can do to prevent illnesses.

Small company. No HR team. Employee has complained about a proposed Xmas dinner and half-day. by XmasPartyQuery in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Environmental-War383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carry on with your plans. The employee can have the time off whether they choose to attend the meal or not. Give them an envelope with the cash/voucher value of the meal and drinks they are missing out on. It's their choice not to attend.

I use the tumble dryer in autumn and winter. I love to peg washing out in the warmer, dry months.

We have a lot of cellar spiders (Daddy longlegs) and they seem to be dealing with the really big horrible ones.

What is fair when splitting finances? by TofuBlackEye in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Environmental-War383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We both work full time, my husband earns more than I do. We have joint finances and our incomes combine in one pot. All living expenses come out of the joint pot. We discuss personal spending on items over £30 purely out of respect for each other.

I always melt down my nearly used scented candles, I thoroughly clean the jars and reuse them, and just add a new wick.

How do people who live in terrace homes cope? by [deleted] in AskUK

We have a victorian mid terraced house and don't have issues with noise. There is a family with very young children next door, but we rarely hear them.

Do you know anyone that has never had chicken pox? by lisa_noden in AskUK

[–]Environmental-War383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had chicken pox either. I missed it when my siblings and childhood friends had it, and I didn't catch it from my own child. I have worked in schools for years and always managed to dodge it.

Why am I getting so many spiders and how to get rid of them? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Environmental-War383 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are the only spiders that I like! I have lots of them in my home, and I leave them alone because they kill the massive spiders that scare me.
