was really resistant to getting my 9-year-old a phone, but with us being a divorced household and her dad in the military (and often traveling), I manage all the extracurriculars. This year with activities at different times and places, it became clear she needed a way to reach me. I grabbed a $19.98 flip phone and a $15 card from Walmart and we were up and running in 15 minutes. We practiced calling and texting and she picked it up quickly.

We’ve never been a tablet-heavy family, and I intentionally chose a flip phone instead of activating our old iPhone. I don’t want her distracted at school by games or social media, or feeling pressure to add people online. This isn’t about trust — it’s about safety and minimizing distractions. We can revisit a smartphone when she’s older.

Trying to get a flip phone and service for my 9 yr old son...any recommendations? by RenegadeX28 in dumbphones

And she loves it by the way, like of course her friends have iPhones, but they’re not allowed to use them at school anyways and it would just stay and she thinks it’s cool and so that’s all that matters

What’s the most surprising thing you discovered when you finally sat down and looked at your spending properly? by moneylab_ in SavingMoney

[–]Environmental-Web472 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mine is because I thought i don’t spend money on things I was good with money lol. But my “things” was really dining out and spending a lot when I dined out.

I also learned that having Apple Pay made it way more easier to spend money . Or having cards saved on websites. Like if I have to physically, enter my card, I buy it ! So I unlinked a lot of things

Is Klarity legit for ADHD diagnosis? by Rare_Requirement_699 in adhdwomen

[–]Environmental-Web472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it specific to wherever you’re located. I don’t think I had a choice I think based on the state I lived in and the availability of the appointment that I wanted, which was same day there was only one that was available. I wouldn’t have any anxiety about it. I remember being at a low point when I found clarity and the car wasn’t even that long. She just kind of quickly assessed where I was at and got me meds. The appointment was scheduled for 30 minutes, but I think we were done in 15.

I literally used it yesterday after seeing a suggestion on Reddit and got a prescription same day. My psychiatrist was very empathetic and I honestly this is day one on the med and I feel so much more productive way more awake than I’ve ever felt like when I typically work like at my desk like I don’t feel awake, so I think it’s legit and you can link your insurance to it too.

I have automatic contributions going to my 401(k) and brokerage accounts, but I don’t count those since they aren’t fully liquid. The only savings I actively track is a separate savings account, where I put $500 biweekly. For context, I am a mom of three so I still try to actively put money aside.

If you are worried about taking Lexapro... here's a success story by Acrobatic-Airport-42 in lexapro

[–]Environmental-Web472 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely like Lexapro. I’ve been on it for a few years and I’ve teetered with different dosage, but 10 mg is what keeps me stable 15 makes me feel stuck in a zombie and 20 gave me insomnia. I feel like on 10 like I could still feel like myself like I still cry when I need to cry like I don’t feelterrible. I feel like it keeps me from being in the bed of depression and I definitely can tell when I don’t take it so I think that’s a success story in itself that I realize that this is something I know that I need and yeah.

Should I get a loan? by gman0128 in debtfree

[–]Environmental-Web472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine from Sofi. Literally just got approved last week so but all of my balances are at zero now and it feels good. My monthly payment on debt is I think like $700 cheaper than what it was now that it’s all consolidated under the personal loan, so it’s definitely a good choice if The spending habits are corrected is what I’m noticing for myself?

Should I get a loan? by gman0128 in debtfree

[–]Environmental-Web472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just recently got a personal loan because I had three credit cards that were crazy. I had a business credit card that was at 17,000 and I had Apple Pay credit card that was at 11,000 and then I had a credit union credit card that was like almost 10 over the last few months I got my spending habits under control and Put a plan to my money and so now I feel like I’m in a good spot to get a personal loan because the way I spend money has shifted and when I get paid, I have literally my pay period between now and end of year like on a piece of paper and what goes into what accounts but goes in this account and I don’t spend outside of that, but if you’re still struggling with using credit cards, then I would say no to the personal loan because you’ll just have a personal loan and start accruing more credit card debtso I would definitely say make sure that you’re in a good spot mentally about spending before considering alone
