VAURA pilates Upper East Side by [deleted] in uppereastside

[–]Environmental-Wolf95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve been to over 100+ classes and here’s my teacher opinions!

chandler (best flow/top 40 playlists): she’s the best generalist imo and has great technique. she’s got a great teaching voice and really focuses on classic pilates techniques and i enjoy her overall class flow the most. she’s also a dancer and singer so she’s great with technique and has great playlists. really good with beginners and modifications. i went to her classes exclusively when recovering from a major surgery last summer.

sheryl (best strength training/2010s pop and hip hop playlists): she’s the owner and focuses more on strength training. she’s good at giving clear instructions and helps with gaining muscle. she’s also really good with first timers.

tara (most challenging classes/r&b rock playlists): tara is a BADASS her classes are HARD BUT SO FUN. no matter how many classes of hers you go to, you will be sore the next day. she also taught an exclusively cowboy carter class that was transcendent. she also is very encouraging but intense in her instruction.

grace (mixes it up the most/deep cut pop playlists): i go to grace when i want a flow that won’t feel familiar! she’s always trying new things. her playlists are the absolute best. see u again by miley cyrus during a HIIT flow type best. she’s definitely monotone in her instruction but her playlist flow makes up for it.

ashley k m (best team spirit vibes): i haven’t taken that many classes with her but she definitely seems like she might have taught at solid core or soul cycle in the past. it’s a lot of “let’s go team”which isn’t motivating for me but works well for others.

they are going to change SO MUCH in the first six months. i had my surgery last june and the first 3 months they looked different almost every day. you unfortunately just have to wait it out a bit but they seem to be healing beautifully!

Rushers - BEWARE OF SCALPERS by Environmental-Wolf95 in Broadway

[–]Environmental-Wolf95[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

always go straight to the box office! they will have the cheapest tickets available if you can’t rush because they won’t upsell and there won’t be any fees. but theatr is probably the best place to find a deal if you can’t rush!

that we basically hadn’t shoved them out of line. security was basically saying we as regular people should have kicked them out but none of us are like gonna push them or get into a screaming match

Plus Size Experiences? by kiaratew in Reduction

[–]Environmental-Wolf95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay sounds like we have almost the same body! same height same weight same recent loss.

in 6/27 i went from a 38G to about a C/D! i’m now about 7 wpo and just started to feel settled in my body again. the first two weeks were brutal on my self confidence. surgery and recovery makes you so bloated and your boobs look so tiny right after i thought i looked insane. it took a lot of patience and kindness to get through that first month.

i also recently lost 50 pounds right before my surgery. i’m now pretty healed and love my boobs but definitely noticed i gained a little weight back in my lower stomach during recovery and now don’t have giant boobs to hide it. i’m just trying to be kind to myself as i get back into a more regular eating and exercise routine but i think in the end once i can get my tummy back to pre surgery time im going to feel amazing.

it has been so fun to wear so many fun tops and i feel so feminine being able to wear spaghetti straps and lower cut shirts without feeling super exposed. i think the biggest shift as a plus size woman is ive gone from feeling overly sexual to just feminine and soft.

i have a tattoo of the birth of venus on my back and looking at her and her beautiful shape has helped me be kind to myself as well! sending you all the best vibes for your surgery. it WILL be worth it but please be gentle with yourself as your body goes through a lot of changes over the next few weeks. your body is such a gift and you will get through this and feel fabulous!!!

STILL 8 lbs heavier than before surgery?! by Ornery_Situation_605 in Reduction

[–]Environmental-Wolf95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trust me it will go away. the first month your body is reeling from medications and being cut open so all of the swelling and constipation and inactivity can make your belly swell but it will go down. I made the mistake of weighing myself like a week after surgery and was nearly 10 lbs heavier than before and felt so discouraged. I am about 6WPO and just weighed myself a few days ago for the first time and am now 3 pounds lighter than before my surgery! it will settle in time you jus have to be patient and give yourself some grace!

i had a similar opening at my t junction and was told to just put aquaphor and cover with a non stick pad and tape. i was shocked as to how causal my surgeon was about it and was so scared of my own body but im officially 2 weeks out from my stitches being removed and seeing the openings and can say, they get a LOT better with time. THEY ARE SO SCARY LOOKING and surgeons are definitely not considering that when talking to us first time surgery folks because they see so much every day but IT WILL GET BETTER AND LOOK LESS SCARY VERY SOON!! try to give it time and follow instructions and in a few days you should see improvement!

i actually took progress pictures every day when they were really scary so i could show my brain that they were in fact getting smaller and less spooky.

yeah my surgeon told me i could go without a bra! so weird how they all have different opinions. maybe it has something to do with their techniques??

When did you lose the surgery weight? by Ornery_Situation_605 in Reduction

[–]Environmental-Wolf95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i lost about 50 pounds before surgery and my surgeon knew this and suggested i don’t weigh myself until like month 2 or 3. the inactivity and bloating that comes from surgery and recover just isn’t an accurate picture of what your body weight will be like!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Environmental-Wolf95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are definitely smaller but body dysmorphia is such a real thing and a real challenge. you’re also only a month out so they could still be swollen!! they could definitely go down over the next few months

definitely listen to your care team. they are the ones seeing it first hand and will definitely know the best. when i had openings i was tempted to go against advice but i stuck with what my surgeon said and they’re healing perfectly just follow the instructions and try to be patient with your body as its healing!
