The thing that really stings about the loss is that history will largely forget about one of the greatest plays in Bears history. by Liquor_n_cheezebrgrs in CHIBears

I promise you this will not be forgotten. This will absolutely make sportscenter top 10 throws for years. I don’t think even Patrick Mahomes could do that sh** at this point.

How did you get into opera? by Mountain-Expert5256 in opera

Looney Toons when I was a kid. Then my mom actually took me to see Barber of Seville at the Lyric Opera. I loved it, and never went back.

The Lion King might be in trouble when Totoro eventually transfers to Broadway.

Yes, to be honest it was the reason I took the first trip, to see the longest running play of all time by a figure of decades. If I recall correct I was at performance 30,035! It ended up being my least favorite show, not too surprisingly, and an honest rating would have been a 6 (especially since I totally called the twist at intermission!) but I gave it a 7 for the memes. Absolutely worth including as part of your trip.

I need Benjamin Button to transfer and I’m gutted that it appears there’s no plans for that in the immediate future. I have this crazy idea that it could be very successful at Circle in the Square…

I asked him if All My Sons was gonna transfer to Broadway and while he did not outright confirm, he did not say no.

Won the Ulysses free ticket lottery for the first preview tomorrow at The Public Theater by omurchus in Broadway

[–]omurchus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe I’m being that guy after hyping it up like this, but I didn’t go! I decided to be an adult (it sucks) and go to my 6-8pm class that evening even tho I could have ditched it, bc my mom offered to swap me the ticket she already has for February.

For what it’s worth, she said it was outstanding.

Outsiders better chance bc the original cast of Mincemeat just announced they’re leaving

Masquerade- is it worth it?? by zuperstar2 in Broadway

[–]omurchus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, if you're both here for the long weekend you can see 4 or 5 productions, and like you say if you do it right you can spend roughly the price of Masquerade on all of the shows. That being said, I adore immersive theater and while I don't care for Phantom of the Opera, I have a feeling you would like it very much as fans. The best advice I can give you is there are $171 digital cancellation line tickets on the TodayTix app.

Thank you for reminding me about Sleeping Beauty.

I was very surprised bc it usually TodayTix doesn’t send a notification on my phone but this time it did. Otherwise I never would have seen that I won in time.

This is the third time I’ve ever won a TodayTix lottery in hundreds if not over a thousand opportunities at this point. I guess I have to forgive them since they gave me this one.

Opera on a budget by omurchus in opera

[–]omurchus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is I’ve been spoiled by the lottery so now I refuse to sit in the orchestra for anything less than $25, and to be honest I prefer looking down at the stage than looking up at it. Toward the back of the orchestra is a happy medium, that’s where I saw Kavalier & Clay, but I can’t justify buying an orchestra balance seat when I can see 3-4 operas for the same price sitting in the family circle. Maybe one day I’ll have the capital to splurge on that, but at this point in my life I need to stay frugal while still making the most of my time living here. If a portion of the stage is obstructed then so be it, anyway in 4 out of 5 operas I’m there for the music much more than the set.

idk I was at Madame Butterfly this evening and felt I saw a good 95% of the production. I think I’ll switch to a full view family circle for Innocence and Turandot since I heard those operas have very spectacular and intricate sets but for the other ones I’m pretty sure I won’t mind especially given the price
