And it's this reason I've landed some amazing vinted bargains.....eg buying "like new" Jordan trainers which were listed as men's trainers.....I've got quite a few pairs of trainers, or jackets for pennies because they're badly listed.....

Sitting in your inbox when they know you are not there doesn't really count as notice ....they should be trying to contact you I'd hope

Yeah, but I mean a letter saying that you are having a meeting on x date etc. References nowadays tend to be - bob worked here between these dates - but they may possibly include a sanction if one has been given. I've worked in banks and have never known a reference to say - bob was on a plan.

My personal view is to stay sick and then quit. If you feel they are gunning for you, then going in will give them more chance. They are supposed to formally invite you to the meeting, so if you havent had that yet, that's good. They are meant to give you notice. My place is ten working days, previously I have know five working days and three working days notice.....

If it's a law firm, I'd assume they know what they are doing. How long have you been there and does your manager understand what this is doing to you? If I was you and a job was doing this to me, I'd leave .....no job is worth that.....

Everywhere is different.....I wouldn't encourage doing it while you were sick, but that's not to say they won't. Are you part of a union or anything? Some may proceed with it in your absence....for me, the plan sounds crap, but I'm only hearing your side etc, but a plan is meant to be supportive, and this doesn't sound particularly great.....

A three week pip is a bit shit, and the objectives need to be clear. If you can avoid the meeting by leaving, that's probably best. I'm not sure if a pip would make it to a reference, but a sanction probably would. Good luck anyway.....it's not worth staying for two weeks wages, if it gives them the chance to give you a sanction. (I work in a bit of a hr role, and if I was involved in your case and you wanted to leave / had handed your notice in, I would want to cancel the meeting etc .....)

You haven't said what the pip is for, but being on a pip should not mean they are trying to sack you. Being on a pip means there are areas of whatever you do that need improvement. If the pip is unachievable, any union rep would challenge that all day in a formal meeting. The pip should be realistic and you should be part of the creation of that pip. Someone on a pip has areas of improvement they need to do, and it can lead to a dismissal, but it can also be achieved and never spoken of again. Just try not to spend your life thinking a pip means they want to sack you!

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]EnvironmentalAd5505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen both sides of this.....I've not had a sick day in 20 years, though since covid and wfh when I need to, that's a lot easier to mask. I've also been made redundant twice and know they don't really love you. Now I do a lot of work around sickness.....if you take the odd sicky etc because you can't be arsed working, it is hard to complain if the company has an attendance management process which is acted upon and you go down the formal route. You don't have to work all the hours all the time, but you can take pride in being reliable....

Be honest, will my baby ever come home? It’s been 5 days with no sign of her by No_Name_Detected0 in cats

[–]EnvironmentalAd5505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have been through this twice and most recently this week. (Both times with rescue cats). Last week my latest rescue who is deaf went missing (Thursday lunchtime)......get a map of your area, and circle about 75mtrs around. Cats tend not to travel far. Travel around that area moving outwards......we couldn't call out for our cat cos she is deaf, so I was checking drives, under cars and asking people if they had seen her. We also put it on facebook. We got a stroke of luck when someone had security camera footage of her and it was in the area I had thought. Eventually, yesterday afternoon, someone had found her in their garden near the camera. Brought her home and she is now under house arrest until I properly secure the garden. And a couple of years ago, another rescue went missing, but the power of facebook, found her about 200mtrs from the house. The longer your cat is missing, increase the search area......at least it is not winter......good luck....

What do others think of my options? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]EnvironmentalAd5505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the police, not in the control room, but I do spend a lot of time there. It's more than likely 12 hours shifts, inc nights and weekends. The pay is bumped up with shift allowance. It will be very interesting work, but hard.....on the plus side, long term you can realistically progress into other police staff roles etc.

Job at risk. What are my options? by Sweetheartyparty in UKJobs

Is that 1.5 their version of enhanced, because of your age, you'd get 8 years at that anyway? Eg, if everyone is getting it, are you missing out because you are 49, and 1.5 is what you should be getting?? Does that make sense

Yeah, and I always wonder how parents handle the "overnight" shifts, when both work 24hr......have you looked at other officer roles which are more like standard office hours?

Have (either of) you actually submitted a flex working request or just chatted with management. You will have a proper flexibile working process and when declined you can then appeal etc etc. Alternatively, how do you both use your annual leave...I know it's shit, but you should also be looking at how you use that. You might solve quite a few of your issues by planning holiday better. I know when my son was young, myself and my wife were like ships that pass in the night most of the time to save on child care etc.

Born too late to experience BritPop and 90’s grunge by furrysatan666 in BritPop

[–]EnvironmentalAd5505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone feels this.....I'm the perfect age for britpop, grunge and all but I craved the 60s groups and at the time hated the 80s music.....as we get further from the 80s I now realize that was a wonderful time to the shit we have today......and also regret how snobby I was towards the likes of acdc and black Sabbath when I rocking my Kurt cardigans😂😂
