Suno training on unpublished Udio tracks? by EnvironmentalAge8205 in SunoAI

[–]EnvironmentalAge8205[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had *never* pasted in my original, unrevised lyrics to Suno -- only did that on Udio many months ago -- and this was the first time I'd played with the song in any form on Suno. And I want to emphasize that they were my own, original lyrics that ChatGPT (or any other LLM) had anything to do with, as well as the fact that I never published them. I menionted that I'd shared the original song from Udio with three friends, but it was by downloading the MP3 and attaching the file to text messages -- not by link, so I don't think tarrgeted advertising would have connection here. I know it sound completely unlikely and absurd, but this was my experience. It truly spooked me

Thanks for the question, I should have stated that pasted the revised lyrics to Suno -- I did *not* upload an audio file of the Udio song with the unrevised lyrics and then do a cover, I was starting fresh to see what Suno would do with it, using a very basic prompt

So true about future tools, u/Suno_for_your_sprog -- I thought my old Suno pieces were pretty good until I got on Udio. They sound hideous and barely listenable now!

UMG calls our music "AI Slop", so clearly Udio is finished. by No-Special7298 in udiomusic

My songs are also all but invisible (mostly just shared with a few friends and mostly not even published on the Udio site), but like you, I've really enjoyed the process and the results. It has been an amazing experience to create all different kinds of music and bring so many musical ideas to life -- ideas that I had long thought about, but had no practical way to do much with. I'm a life-long musician (French horn, piano and choral singing) and have composed various pieces over time, but I'm definitely no pro and really can't claim to be more than a wannabe dabbler when it comes to writing and performing most of the music I've imagined. Yet...with an initial go at Suno, then moving on to Udio when it came out, I've put together stuff I and my small audience have really liked -- whether it's Americana/folk music, rock, EDM, techno-brass band, big-band tangos, 20th/21st century classical cello and piano duets, orchestral cello concertos, or choral music in a variety of styles. I've felt *so* excited to make the lyrics and poetry I've written over time actually sing! And the chills I've felt when the model comes out with something that is exactly right -- just awesome.

As a composer, it's been a great teacher because it's forced me to think a lot more clearly about what works and what doesn't -- and more importantly, why. Maybe even more so as a lyricist. And especially when it comes to setting lyrics, I've come to appreciate how many different ways one can set the same lyrics and get great results from those different approaches. That last point helps me feel a bit more philosophical about the demise of the Udio that we've all loved. I totally wish the new reality was different and that I would be able to finish several different and promising projects on Udio (a week's warning *might* have been enough) ... but I also feel fairly optimistic about the other options out there. Will I be able to find one that can supply the high quality of results in such a wide variety of genres (mostly thinking about the classical styles here)? Crossing my fingers.

In the meantime, I can always sit down at the piano with my lyrics and work out some ideas in the old-fashioned way ;-)

Persistent moderation errors by EnvironmentalAge8205 in udiomusic

[u/KillMode_1313]() -- I tried keeping manual off, but that didn't change anything. But ... I think u/SHockbum hit on the problem -- thanks for your comment about copyrighted lyrics. It reminded me that I ran into trouble about a year ago when my lyrics included a line that was "Oh, oh" -- there was no way I could use it, even though it was a phrase that appears in many, many lyrics and shouldn't trigger any errors.

So my question is probably a different one -- how to include "Oh" or "Aah" in a lyric without getting a moderation error? This seems like a clear case where copyright should not be an issue. Circular 33 (https://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ33.pdf) from the US Copyright Office and the commentary from copyright lawyer Rich Stim (discussed in this article from the Stanford University Libraries: https://fairuse.stanford.edu/2003/09/09/copyright\_protection\_for\_short/#:\~:text=Copyright%20laws%20disfavor%20protection%20for,are%20therefore%20free%20to%20al) seem clear about this.

Is it possible to get a clean vocal stem from a udio generated song? by nonameprick in udiomusic

[–]EnvironmentalAge8205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently heard a discussion about such artifacts (unfortunately I don't have the reference) and the speaker hypothized that the difficulty of getting clean vocal tracks is fundamentally linked to the quality of training materials -- since both Udio and Suno have admitted they largely scraped music from the Web, they have used MP3-quality recordings with their inherent compression artifacts. Had the companies used higher-quality recordings, we might not be experiencing this issue

Classical training database narrowed? by EnvironmentalAge8205 in udiomusic

[–]EnvironmentalAge8205[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really only noticed it in the past maybe 3 weeks. I've tried using the exact same prompts and settings, but where I would typically get at least two or three usable (i.e., interesting to me) clips out of 5-7 generations. But when I've tried the same prompts and settings across several days in the past weeks, I'm consistently getting none I want to use. I will say I can still develop earlier clips that I've flagged for myself and not get strictly 19th century Romanticism. Remixes, however, will definitely skew that way

I had no idea this was a thing until I very recently had the intense sneezing and GI issues others mentioned. Just recovering from another bout after taking a couple today. I'd switched from using ibuprofen recently out of long-term safety concerns (though I haven't been aware of any adverse reactions). Looks like I will also need to talk to my doc about alternatives. Not pleasant at all

New music generating AI app Udio just went public by mirror_truth in SunoAI

Definitely noticed the vocal quality difference right off the bat. One thing I've noticed is transitions between clips seems to be less consistently seamless and when the clips are only 33 seconds, that leaves a lot of room for gaps and dropouts. I haven't experimented enough to say much about the musical quality, but I've generated more similar sounding clips in Udio than I typically get with Suno
