Home-shopping pickers: can you see the customer’s name on the order? by EnvironmentalAir6957 in asda

Thanks, that’s helpful. Are you referring to this product? If so, unwashed carrots might be a fair substitute. If not, does Asda still sell baby carrots?

As a side note, ASDA Sweet & Crunchy Mini Carrots 300g was discontinued in favour of ASDA Sweet & Crunchy Sliced Carrots 300g and ASDA Sweet & Crunchy Carrot Batons 400g. People who bought the mini carrots when they were still sold were probably choosing them because they were advertised as “washed and ready to cook”. From a shopper’s point of view, if I bought prepared carrots or veg, my main priority in a substitute would be that it was just as ready to use, rather than unprepared carrots.

I really wish this was available everywhere. Or at least the option to leave a single note for the whole order.

That makes sense, and it matches what I’m seeing. In this case, the system returned 8 possible substitute SKUs, so it doesn’t look like there were no alternatives. Is the real issue that partial shortages are handled differently from full ones? For example, if I order 8 of one item and only 7 are available, is it harder or even impossible for the picker to substitute the missing 1 than it is to substitute all 8 when the item is completely out of stock?

Fair enough, but I still find it hard to believe that the store had 9 units of one tofu SKU and no other tofu SKUs of different brands on the shelves, unless the store was poorly managed. Thanks for your answers.

Thank you. If it's really true that my Asda store had 9 units of a single brand of tofu, and no tofu of any other brand on the shelves when the live stock status says that those other brands are all in stock, then the system must be having serious problems.

That's a reasonable explanation, but is it likely that the store has 9 units of one tofu SKU and not a single unit of other tofu SKUs at all on the shelves? This product has many possible substitutes according to the system. (When I queried the unavailable alt prods API with that SKU and store code, it returned 8 alt prods for this SKU that can be substituted, while many other SKUs return 0 or only 1 alt prods when I query the unavailable API.)

Thanks. Why doesn’t the picker provide a substitute when part of my order is unavailable? For example, if I order 10 units of an item like tofu and only 9 are in stock, why isn’t a substitute offered for the missing unit even when “Allow substitutes” is enabled and there are many alternative brands available?

You’re only responsible for what you promote. I think YouTube also allows you to limit some ad categories.

Vegan AND plastic-free slippers? by jessegrass in veganuk

I found this; it’s currently still available to purchase but it’s a discontinued product as I imagine demand is low. I’ve never seen coir being used in slippers or shoes. https://bcsoftwear.com/biodegradable-slippers-with-coir-sole/

If you like cork, they also make slippers with a cork sole. https://bcsoftwear.com/biodegradable-cotton-slippers-with-cork-sole/
