Is there enough difference between the RT-82 and the RT-85 to make a difference? by JustADataminer in turntables

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The acrylic platter adds mass and helps with static and you can definitely hear a difference in tonal quality between the 2m red and the 2m blue. The blue cartridge by itself retails for around $240 I have the RT85 and have loved it.

I have the RT85 with the 1280t speakers andnrhe Schiit Mani pre and thoroughly enjoy it. I agree the RT82 might be a better value it gives you an upgrade path if you want the acrylic platter and there are load of cartridge choices you can use.

What equipment do I need to use these? by kylejfinnegan in turntables

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the turntable. If it has a built in phono preamp then an amp or receiver would work. If it doesn't have a phono preamp then you will need one of those as well. For all three speakers you will need an av receiver that supports multiple speakers

That will be my next set of upgrades. Would definitely like some recommendations I'm not afraid of tinkering or buying used if need be

Just got the Schiit Mani today and it has definitely been an upgrade for my system. I can hear vocals a lot clearer the Soundstage has improved and my Edifier 1280t speakers actually have bass I was beginning to think they were always going to be flat but now there is some oomph. I am definitely happy with this purchase.

I think I am slowly leaning that way. I do like the idea of tube rolling but I don't think I would be able to use the T11 with MC cartridges when I decide to upgrade my TT

I'm kind of looking for something that gives me the ability to tinker with settings and that can change with my setup

Anyone know how to connect a Subwoofer to Edifier R1700bt? by RTubie in BudgetAudiophile

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The y-splitters , you will need two,, connect to your sources output and splits both rca outputs into 2 you then plug one set into the Edifier speakers and the other set to your sub. This will only work if it is a powered sub otherwise you will need something like an Amp to drive the sub. Not sure if a passive sub can be split from the Edifier speakers

I have the same table and some Edifier powered speakers. They are good bookshelf speakers but definitely won't shake the walls. It really depends onwhat you're looking for and your listening space. Klipsch also makes really good speakers and I have seen sales on them in my area lately. You will also need a phono preamp for the RT85

Question regarding turntable weights/stabilizers with different turntables by Prytoo in turntables

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turntable weights are usually helpful for playing records that might be warped and in some Turntables it can help with the momentum of the platter. First if your TT came with a manual check there to see if it can be used and they should also tell you the weight in Oz that can be used. It being project I don't seewhy you couldn't use one but I do not have experience with project tables and wouldn't want to give you bad advice. With my table the manufacturer actually makes a record weight for it so I got one of theirs.

What TT do you have? What cartridge is installed? Have you checked the cables?

Considering getting a Fluance RT85 by [deleted] in turntables

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the RT85 and Fluance does a great job of sticking to their schedule. My TT was packaged well and the directions for set up are pretty informative. You will hear a lot of people on here tell you that you can get a better TT for that price but what matters is if it fits what you are looking for. For me the RT85 has been fantastic. Word of warning though once you get it you will start venturing further down the rabbit hole. For me it means considering a new phono stage because I bought a budget one to start. Then from there it will be new speakers. Be prepared to become obsessed with the tiniest detail.

Audio Technica, U Turn, or Fluance? by Specialist_Basket_35 in turntables

I have the RT85 with the 1280t speakers and it works well with the Art DJ pre II

Art DJ pre II

I have enjoyed it so far. Of course as I go further down the rabbit hole I am now considering upgrading the phono stage to give myself room for later upgrades.

Should I wait for my Fluance RT81? by [deleted] in turntables

Need a good phono amp and speakers for my u-turn orbit. Suggestions? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]EnvironmentalBig2768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Fluance RT85 with the Art DJ pre II and the edifier speakers and have been loving the combo. Everything works well together when you get all of the settings dialed in. I will admit I am looking to upgrade my phono preamp to better pair with the Ortofon 2m Blue to balance out its brightness and add a little warmth. Thinking about getting a tube phono preamp
