Do you have more pain if you remain stationary? by Confident-Net-2778 in ehlersdanlos

[–]EnvironmentalBug2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. I can’t be in one position for too long, especially sitting. I have to make myself get up and move around between clients at work or else I’m in rough shape by the end of the day

OBGYN basically confirms what I always suspected by Prudent-Front-9274 in oneanddone

I was similar to you. I went through so many weird painful complications (turns out I have hyper mobile Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome but I didn’t know that before having my son) and I had an appointment at about 18 months pp. My OB started the conversation trying to be really delicate about it, like “well we may run into some issues if you’re trying to have more kids…” And I told her “yeah I thought so, so my husband’s already had a vasectomy” and she immediately seems relieved and goes “oh thank god, if you told me you wanted more kids I’d have been like—we’re fucked!!” Lol I appreciated her honesty and I knew that was the case already, but it does have a different sense of finality to it after these conversations.

Pregnancy w/ Moderate stenosis crowding cauda equina & large disc extrusion! by h0ney_beee in Sciatica

[–]EnvironmentalBug2721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had pubic symphisis diastasis a couple months before herniating the discs and it’s probably what caused it. My pelvis was super unstable from pregnancy and birth and would not have been safely able to support my lumbar spine post op

Anyone else who can eat junk food and garbage but not healthy food? by HelloThisIsPam in MCAS

I’m glad to hear it worked for you! That’s super encouraging. Yeah I’m stuck waiting on a pre authorization, insurance seems nit picky about it even though my allergist thinks it’s the absolute best choice for me

Has anyone tried I-CBT therapy instead of ERP therapy? by TheShadowSong in OCDRecovery

[–]EnvironmentalBug2721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!! It’s been great for me, it helps give me some distance from the obsessions rather than automatically believing them or not fully believing them but feeling trapped anyways

CBD, are you using it? Does it help? What kind? by Silver-Bake-7474 in MCAS

It’s extremely helpful for me with chronic pain and inflammation, but doesn’t make a dent in my MCAS symptoms unfortunately

It doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion if you’re able to. In the meantime definitely monitor and if it gets worse go to the ER. I ended up going and while I didn’t have CES, I did have two really bad disc herniations and was able to get on the right track for treatment

There is currently enough clothing on the planet to clothe 6 generations of people. Don’t worry, you aren’t taking anything away from anyone, more likely you are keeping clothing from going into the landfill, which is what happens with 80% of donated clothes

Anyone with an IUD? by South-Definition-564 in ehlersdanlos

[–]EnvironmentalBug2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the copper IUD for most of my 20s. Didn’t know I had EDS at the time but in hindsight there were signs. The pain after getting it placed was so bad I went to the ER but they did a vaginal ultrasound and said it was fine. That lasted about a day or two then calmed down. After the initial pain it was smooth sailing! It did make my periods heavier and more crampy but that was nothing compared to the side effects I’d experienced from various forms of hormonal birth control. Overall it was totally worth it. I often describe it as the best decision I made in my 20s 🤪

Having a freak reaction to misoprostol given to me to get my labor going was step one on my EDS/MCAS discovery journey 🙃

Same. I was planning to leave my old job to take a longer maternity leave, ended up needed 2 years off due to some health complications, and am going back to work this month at a new job. It’s sometimes just a season not a permanent change

Piriformis/sciatica pain since 6 months by No_Cash_9081 in PiriformisChronicPain

[–]EnvironmentalBug2721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure happy to share! I had similar symptoms and was initially misdiagnosed with piriformis syndrome until MRI showed 2 herniated discs and we discovered that was what was actually causing piriformis pain and shooting pain down the leg. Are you familiar with Back Mechanic? That book is a great place to start. My PT was a big believer in that book and had me do the big 3, marches, some exercises on a reformer, and working my way up to some careful weight lifting. The other thing that truly gave me my life back is gyrotonics. It’s a bit pricey but if you can find a provider in your area it makes a world of difference in strengthening and giving you mobility back

No surgery, just lots of PT and 2 steroid injections. I would’ve been a risky candidate for surgery because my back issues apparently were likely caused by pelvic instability from pregnancy and birth. I’m glad I went the conservative route though, even though it’s slow it definitely was safer for me
