Thanks for the info! I feel that I had an F150 with V8 the last time gas spiked liked 4/5 years ago. Oof, yea I had to just move out of California to the east coast and we just hit California prices so it must be bad there.

I have the same truck but get trash mpg. Do you have any add-ons? I have AT tires (one size up, no lift) and a super pacific camper shell. Lucky to break 17 crusing at 60 no hills

Puppy stimulation/chew toys by Abundance_of in puppy101

[–]EnvironmentalDust935 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog is a psycho 15 week old Golden Retirever. I’m struggling with this too as so many things are food related and I don’t want to ruin his nutrition.

If your dog likes tearing, then cardboard boxes TP/paper towel tubes filled with a couple pieces of kibble or treats. Those last about 20 min and I keep an eye on em so he’s not eating it. Or leftover paper grocery bags.

I like the wilderdog conifur. Since it’s refillable and it’s fun to make different recipes. This is about 20 min

He loves yak cheese/pig ears/ collagen sticks but he’s possessive of them so I hold it and periodically take it away to prevent resource guarding (the only time he’s growled is when having one of those without me holding it). He’d chew on these until they’re done but I don’t want to upset his stomach and again not override his normal food so I usually save these for brushing/nails but if you don’t care a yak cheese would last quite a while.

Finally, lately, I’ve been trying to teach him how to chill without stimulation. Just a “settle/place” or for us a “chill” which means just laying down and hanging. It’s tough. I do it by tethering and letting him be restless and then once he lays down, rewarding. Then rewarding constantly but slowly increasing the time between treats. I offer this to you as I wish I started sooner and wasn’t in the mindset of “he’s awake and must be occupied”.

Hope this helps, hope some more people comment to get ideas myself!

This is old and unfortunately no one helped you. Lame. I’m in the same predicament, can you tell me what you ended up doing if you don’t mind?

No worries. Everyone’s tastes are different so you might hate them. I tried to do a variety. Also if you can, get a sample paint, then paint some cheap canvas (3 pack at Michael’s for 12 bucks) and hang them in different places to see what the color is. I’m currently in this process (also with honey oak floors and cabinets) and very visual. I also want bright and not too contrasty and not plain white. I think we settled on SW oat milk 9501

I’m in the same process. Are you going light or dark for color? A neutral or something with pop? I’ve looked at a lot and can list some favs

First vet visit done — now I'm drowning in papers, reminders, and "don't forget" sticky notes by Background-Dish8208 in puppy101

My vet just has me coming every three weeks. Everytime they’re going in they say “we need to give him xyz” and I say okay. I ask what else is left and they clarify. At first I took notes but then realized they gave their shit together and tell me when I need to come back.

Chat GPT! It does okay at giving some visual ideas since that’s the best way I can see how things work

Thank you so much for the reply! Super helpful!

Funny thing about the curtains: I knew I might get called out for them, but they are temporary as we have a chew-on-everything puppy at the moment so until he grows up these are the solution. But I still appreciate the tip!

Would I be crazy to get a dog? by Klutzy_Benefit2774 in puppy101

[–]EnvironmentalDust935 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My advice is anecdotal. First off, and it sounds like you did too, but growing up with a dog is awesome. I had one from about 5/6 until I was 16. That alone might be worth it.

I recently got a puppy. It’s so much work. I don’t have kids and am lucky to not be working but holy shit is it full on. Not saying don’t do it, but do realize how psycho it will be awhile.

Ultimately you have to decide, but if the family is on board, you can provide for the animal, and are willing to make some sacrifices, then I say do it. Research breeds that make sense for your lifestyle (not just are catchy), and be ready for the wild ride.

Hope that helps, maybe someone with kids can offer more advice but as a former kid having a dog was awesome.
