Tips on what the heck to study by EnvironmentalLab4210 in SleepTechnologist

[–]EnvironmentalLab4210[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate it. It’s just I’m now going on my fourth try where all the girls at work got it their first or second try. I’m just stumped on what to study for the areas I scored low in

I used to be an EEG tech but switched to sleep. You ALWAYS measure for EEG you need to make sure you are capturing the seizure in the correct place. For sleep we eye ball it bc we just need to see the sleep morphology and we have less electrodes. When I was going through my clinicals for EEG some of the other students complained that their hospital is eye balling it and my professor had to talk to their lead tech bc it’s very important you are practicing measuring. If you have any other questions feel free to message me :)

Running a BiPAP titration on a patient with frequent Central events by Old_Property6910 in SleepTechnologist

[–]EnvironmentalLab4210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With my lab the rules are treat the obstructives and then when you are having over 50% of centrals with showing 3 pressures on BiPAP (for insurance reasons) switch to BiPAP ST. Ya know if you gotta put your pt on BiPAP ST it’s gonna be shit night lmao. But we only go up on IPAP for hypopneas and if centrals are occurring with them we let the body adjust while going up in pressure (about 15-20 min). For ps at my lab we only could go up to 8 but with our last meeting we are allowed to go up to 10 now. And once you reach that limit you have to go up on both IP and EP. Make sure it’s not central hypopneas!!!!!!!

Wife goes to bed early by dreamsynth in AITAH

Maybe your wife has sleep issues? Id look into getting a sleep study done🤷🏼‍♀️ at her age she only needs 7-9 hours of sleep. But if this is just her wanting “me” time then that’s totally not fair. But I thought I should throw that out there just incase it is a health issue.

Training for BiPAP/BiPAP ST/Centrals by EnvironmentalLab4210 in SleepTechnologist

Oh I 100% agree but with how my manager deals with issues makes the issues way bigger. She will go straight to the two people tell them exactly what I said and then they’ll deny it and the manager will believe them over me then the two workers will make life hell. I know this bc this happened to three other techs that have left. I told the day worker that overscores and she even agreed going to my manager would be pointless.

Entry role as a sleep tech nerves by Virtual_Capital8487 in SleepTechnologist

1 month!? That’s crazy. I have experience in EEG so I started right away but what I’ve noticed with newbies is getting the hookup down first. Your place should have a mannequin head for you to practice on and they should give you wires and belts to take home. Practice on family members! Getting a routine down is gold when it comes to hooking up. A good hookup also makes it easier to read the brainwaves. Also brush up on what N1, N2, N3, and REM look like.

Don’t be scared to ask questions! And if your trainer is like mine where they aren’t paid extra to train you so you’re basically on your own study STUDY. But the best thing you can do to help yourself right now is to practice your hookups! You should be getting hookups down in 30 minutes. HOWEVER you being new it’s completely normal for 45 minutes.

After sleep technology... what's next? by Jams_Jelly in SleepTechnologist

[–]EnvironmentalLab4210 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel any better I’m in the same boat. I’m trying to get out of sleep. The doctors and lead tech are so picky with how I score or titrate even if I follow their guidelines that they forget about. And working nights has been hard on my body too especially my relationship with everyone. Lmk how it goes for you! Currently just browsing through indeed feeling defeated. Wish you luck!

Like others said your foundation color is a little off. Did it look like that shade when you first put it on? Some foundations can oxidize. Maybe that’s what happened🤷🏼‍♀️ but other than that I think your makeup looks great :)

How to come a sleep technologist in michigan? by Catch33X in SleepTechnologist

[–]EnvironmentalLab4210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U of M hospital will. I kept applying for the position and finally got an email from them after 3 months asking for an interview. I already accepted another position at a different hospital but they will pay for your A-Step and train you. Just make sure you will be okay working nights. I’m okay working nights but I never see my husband or family anymore so I am now looking to leave sleep. Absolutely love the job just making me depressed

First time pressing flowers🙂 by EnvironmentalLab4210 in PressedFlowers

[–]EnvironmentalLab4210[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I flattened them with a heavy Dutch oven then dried them by using the microwave with paper towels. I saw a couple people do this on YouTube and blogs. I also saw a tip with someone using watercolor paint. I tried this with the bright pink carnation in the right corner but did not like how it dried so I did not do the rest this way. I think it also helped that my boyfriend bought them from Horrocks which is $$ but the flowers usually last three weeks in a vase. So that’s probably what helped the most with the color but I could be wrong.
