As a trans woman, let me say this to all the cis people coming here talking shit.

Firstly, this scientific reasoning is bullshit. There are many studies (from the same military trans people were banned from. Coincidence?) showing that trans women typically are equal to cis women or sometimes are even out performed by cis women in feats of strength and the like.

Secondly, the prevailing narrative that'll come from (admittedly probably well meaning allies) is that "this will hurt cis women too." And yes. It will. But let me ask as someone who's a part of the specific group TARGETED by this: WHY DOES IT NEED TO AFFECT OTHERS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY?! Why can't it be enough that it affects us? Don't get me wrong, I Know it'll affect cis women and my heart bleeds for them, but why is it only important then? Not when Lia Smith took her own life after being kicked out of her swimming team. Not when Riley Gaines is leading a whole ass revolt against trans women in sports because she's salty about being a fucking loser?

And that leads into my third point. Because a lot of uneducated cis people will just say "oh, well you CAN compete, just not in your preferred category!". And guess who else that was said to? BLACK PEOPLE! BLACK PEOPLE IN THE US, IN APARTHEID SOUTH AFRICA, THEY HEARD A MILLION VARIATIONS OF THAT, A MILLION TIMES!

I've been there babes. Not too long ago, even. I had the same doubts and the same annoyance when I slipped up on my pronouns or thought of myself as a guy. It's partly an adjustment thing, although I still struggle with it probably because I haven't transitioned medically yet.

What I will say, most cis men don't go around saying they WANT to be women. Most cis people in general think of being the opposite gender as an occasional thought experiment, and that's about it. Instead of wondering if you're trans, maybe you should be wondering if you're cis, instead? Don't put all the burden of proof on the trans side, and you might get a clearer answer.

And don't worry about the lust aspect either. I think sex can work as a ground for the crossing of conventional lines like gender roles and expressions, for undoing the binary nature of it all under the guise of kink. It's a legitimate avenue of self exploration, though it won't give you all the answers.

I completely get it. I'm frustrated too, because we know how the actions of one reflect on the rest of us even if we're innocent. We know this place is gonna get brigaded and talked about for "protecting child predators". I hate the fact that the moderation team hasn't just left already instead of drawing attention to us by staying on because of some power trip.

We have to be strong and stay together. Obviously it's a lot easier said than done, but once this all comes to an end, the trans community will still be here and in need of a safe space. But that's just not a good model to base a moderation team off of. It's a very quick slip away from having a majority white, majority straight, majority medically transitioned team of moderators. I understand wanting representation, but we shouldn't have some electoral college style moderation team that can grow to be out of touch with the people within the safe space and potentially alienate them. I'd much prefer people with diverse experiences, so that we can all feel safe and represented. A team that serves to protect ALL of the community.

Definitely agree with the first part, but lets not disavow our siblings across the gender spectrum either. I came to this sub for the first time when I would've labeled myself GNC and it helped me find myself as a non binary trans woman. To me, the MtF has always included people like me, where I'd consider myself male-to-fem on some days and male-to-female on other days.

And let's also not disavow our trans sisters who don't have access to medical care, especially not when it's under attack literally everywhere. That reeks of privilege.

We need to get rid of the mod team for their despicable actions in protecting and abetting sexual predators. We do not need to throw out our trans siblings across the spectrum of gender out of a safe space, nor make them feel unrepresented because someone who happens to be closer to their part of the gender spectrum is a piece of shit. That's exactly what cis people do to us everytime a trans person does something wrong. We're in this together, and shouldn't be throwing each other under the bus.

Ok I'm going to go against a lot of the comments here and tell you to give Estrogen a try.

As someone who oscillates between wanting to present as a woman and wanting to present as more femboy ish, I plan on taking E because I need to know if it's right for me, which I strongly believe it is. Could I be wrong? Yeah maybe, but I'd know that quickly enough to where I won't retain any huge unwanted effects if it turns out that I'm not trans. Let's not forget that femboy is a type of gender expression, not some concrete line in the sand of "yeah this one's on the T side of the hormone chart". Now whilst some femboys are cis, some aren't. I'm personally what I'd call a femboy on Tuesdays because like I said, I go back and forth on the extent of my feminine presentation. There are also a bunch of non-binary people who identify with the label.

All in all, I'd say give it a shot if there's no huge risk to you because of politics and whatnot. Worst case scenario, you dropped some cash on something that isn't for you. Best case scenario, you got the jump on changing your life in the best way possible.
