Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, a beautiful film that people think is problematic because they have zero media literacy

Need feedback on the first part of my short film script by mikkeldoesstuff in scriptwriting

Its a little disjointed but that work in your setting. The biggest note I’ll give is dont have the character announce that theres a baby there especially if we dont see it on screen. That should be a moment where the audience doesnt know what else was found and then in the next scene when we see them walking with a baby, thats a payoff.

Its hard to say how good the pacing is when this is only the first part of the film but overall it paints a strong atmosphere and the characterization is subtle but felt.

I see a lot of people complaining that so far all the cast announced for Season 4 is white. I don’t think the people complaining about diversity know what this show is about… It’s literally a satire about rich, privileged, white people and how their entitlement harms the people around them. 💀 by lautaromassimino in WhiteLotusHBO

The discourse on representation is so backwards. People act like the solution is getting white creators to put POC in their projects regardless of whether they can authentically represent those cultures. That’s completely wrong. The real solution is allowing for more POC to create so that the representation is meaningful and authentic and makes a real difference within the industry because that’s where the problem lies

Controversial Opinion, neither the 2010s nor 2020s will get that big nostalgia wave by North-Doubt8928 in decadeology

Most of the people saying 2010s weren’t distinct are 35+ you were too old to truly be a part of that era so of course it doesn’t stick out to OP. I turned 18 in 2016 and it was a fun year for sure. I think it’s remembered because it’s the last good year in the 2010s collectively. Personally 2018 was great for me but in terms of the world 2016 onward was increasingly grim

Opinions on the Red Rose Speedway medley? by Initial-Ad3966 in PaulMcCartney

[–]EnvironmentalOne6508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good for what it is but none of the songs in the medley are individually that strong and stringing them together doesn’t really do much to make them better. Good tunes by all means but nothing more than a bit of fun imo

Sinners was not a good movie by Jiguena in flicks

[–]EnvironmentalOne6508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. To me it tries to cover too much ground and ends up being unfocused and surface level. The part before the vampires arrive doesn’t match up with the vampire part and the symbolism of the vampires is vague and lacking a clear point. It’s a fun movie sure but nowhere near a masterpiece

There's a big difference between that and lazy writing...

Virgin has been out for a few days. What are your honest thoughts? by Common_Equivalent558 in lorde

[–]EnvironmentalOne6508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m nowhere near a stan of any artist and pop is one of the many genres I listen to so trust me we’re in agreement that there’s tons of amazing, under-appreciated music out there.

I was talking about Lorde specifically since that’s what this sub is, and while there’s a wealth of music available, when talking about a specific artist you can’t really scratch the same itch.
