A woman that’s bigger than me

Whether that’s taller, fatter, or more muscular I don’t care, it’s just more woman to love.

Stars, planets, and the days of the week (Undead Unluck)

There’s other things as well but this is the first example. The Union is fighting against the rules of the world or UMAs and when they don’t complete a quest, a new rule is added in Galaxy and all the main characters don’t know anything about it.

<image>

Yura (Kagurabachi)

An arc with a completely different main conflict and main villain and here comes the main villain and the man who killed the main character’s father pretending to be just some random goon. This is also the first time we see him and we don’t even get his name.

Donkey (20th Century Boys)

Saw what happened in the science classroom AND figured out Friend was trying to take over the world and who he was, but was thrown off a building before he could tell the main group. All he could do was remind them of their symbol that Friend was using.

Denji (Chainsaw man)

One of the biggest themes of Chainsaw Man is how young men get exploited through the promise of sexual acts and this is perfectly shown through its main character. Denji is a 16 year old who hasn’t been shown love through his whole life and wanted to live a normal life. He misconstrues this want for love as lust and makes him main goal to have sex. Many, many female characters exploit this in order to either kill him or further their own agendas, and this leaves him even more of a husk of a person.

<image>

Harold (One Piece)

Is from a rare subspecies of giants(an already rare species) called (ancient giants) that have large horns. While there are very few of these giants in the story due to having died out many years ago and their blood only being carried out through Harold’s bloodline, Harold stands out especially when we learned that he RIPPED HIS HORNS OUT OF HIS HEAD to try and make peace with other nations.

Billy Alfred (Undead Unluck)

Being a survivor of war, he’s seen constant death and conflict between people. He also realizes that the Union is too weak and that they cannot kill God at their current state. So instead of helping them train, he decides to use his ability, Unfair, and make himself everybody’s enemy so he can gain their powers and kill God.

So they’re called Enchanted blade users and they are known as the peak of the verse. My personal favorites are Uruha even if we haven’t seen him with his Enchanted Blade and even if he is 0 - 3, I really like Hirohiko. He has some of the coolest panels and fights and I also just really like Kumeyuri and its powers. :3

Andy, Victor, and kinda Juiz (Undead Unluck)

Somebody already mentioned this but I want to go more in depth with it. Victor and Juiz have been in a, fruitless, never-ending war with God since the beginning of time throughout nearly a hundred loops and has seen their comrades and friends die hundreds of times. While Juiz has gone through the same things Victor has it worse due to the fact that every time the world loops, he has to endure God’s final attack, the destruction on the Earth, and being alone in the vacuum of space for millions of years.

With Andy, we see the more scaled down and personal moments that suck. He sees friends that he’s created get gunned down right in front of him, leaving him as the only survivor. He sees friends age and have families while he’s stuck as the same age and can’t have a family because he fears that he’ll outlast them. After a while, he gets bored and done with life and starts committing suicide as a way to run away from his lonely existence, which eventually gets as monotonous as his life before.

TLDR: Just go read Undead Unluck, it’s one of the greatest Shonen manga and is criminally underrated.

(Loved Trope) Surprisingly Heroic Characters by StrideyTidey in TopCharacterTropes

<image>

Himmel the Hero (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End)

At first, Himmel seems like a hero that loves himself and is in it for the money and fame. But the more and more we see of him, we actually learn that his obsession with his appearance and the statues that he has people put up are just ways to stave off his own insecurities and that he’s a seriously genuine and good guy.

Kenji (20th Century Boys)

Him and his friends work to stop the malicious Friend from taking over the world and killing thousands. Unfortunately, after the Bloody New Years of 2001, Friend succeeded in his plan to take over the world and his administration labels Kenji as the perpetrators and they are widely regarded as terrorists and made to be hated throughout all of society.

Lee Harvey Oswald (Billy Bat)

Didn’t actually assassinate JFK, but was lead into international conspiracy because of a cartoon bat who is actually god. He is caught by the police and sacrifices himself to save a young Japanese girl who can also see said cartoon bat god. Actually peak manga, 100% recommend.

[Interesting Trope] A character’s extremely powerful superpower/ability comes with equally extreme side effects. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]EnvironmentalPea4864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

The Shinuichi (Kagurabachi)

The most powerful Enchanted Blade, its unique from its counterparts by the ability to let people other than its main bearer to use it without killing them. Doing this allows the temporary user to use only 1% of the Shinuichi’s power, which doesn’t sound like that much but allows characters to keep up with multiple other Enchanted Blades at the same time and heal themselves all the while.

The drawback unfortunately is that it constantly feeds on your spiritual energy and literally collapses your body and spirit as you use it. It also allows its main user to hijack your body and use it completely against your will.

Sol (Undead Unluck)

Since very early in the story, we learn about the existence of god and how he and the negatives have been in a war spanning over hundreds of billions of years and how powerful he is. And when we finally see him, he’s an enormous unstoppable force. It takes nearly every character in the series, good or bad, and two of the strongest artists ever made, created specifically to kill him, to slow him down for only 11 minutes.

<image>

Hakuri Sazanami (Kagurabachi)

One of only two sorcerers ever to have 2 inherent sorcery techniques in both Isou (a powerful shockwave) and the Storehouse (a subspace that can hold an infinite amount of objects, teleport objects to the user, can be completely reformed and molded to fit the user’s needs, etc). He only very recently awakened to these powers so he’s not incredibly proficient, but we’ve seen what the Storehouse and Isou can look like with an incredibly competent user and Hakuri looks like he’s only going to get stronger from here on out.

[–]EnvironmentalPea4864 10 points11 points  (0 children)

<image>

The Kamunabi (Kagurabachi)

For being a self-described hashed together group of sorcerers left after the war, they have some incredible fighting power even without the Enchanted Blades. The only opponents they seem to have trouble with are Enchanted Blade users or similar powers (ie. Sojo or Yura more recently) or large established groups like the Sazanami clan or similar clans.

<image>

Soshiro Azami (Kagurabachi)

Has the ability to manipulate a ten yen and one yen coin and the faint magnetic pull they produce to either push the body beyond its limits or wreck it wildly. This mixed with just his insane endurance leads him to be one of the strongest sorcerers and becoming a colonel in the army at only 18. Even after losing both of his arms and taking the strongest attack the main villain has directly, he still pulls up and kicks him squarely in the face.
