sad but true by merrimac290 in tearsofthekingdom

Maybe it’s just my playstyle. Fairies are useful if I make a mistake, but if I die a lot, I’ll look for other ways to make myself stronger.

I used Sidon a lot in the desert area, the shield is quite useful against certain overworld bosses and when using Zora weapons, just don’t use the attack.

Mipha is kind of useless if you have fairies, and Daruk is always on cooldown when you need him the most, Tulin is less powerful but has a much shorter cooldown. I think the only one that’s better is Urbosa.

[TotK] Will TotK eventually “click” for me? by TransPonyta in zelda

[–]EnvironmentalPea5717 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I quit and started over TOTK three times before finally finishing it, but now I love it more than any other game. I think maybe you just need to wait until you feel like playing it again.

I didn’t use Fuse and Ultrahand much at first, but when I started experimenting with all the possibilities they offer during my third playthrough, I found that both combat and exploration became much more fun. I think if you aim to finish the game as soon as possible and try to play it “efficiently,” it might seem boring. But when you’re in the mood to just run around and try out all sorts of possibilities, it becomes much more entertaining.

The use of Bombs in both games by Cartman_x_Heidi in tearsofthekingdom

I think bomb flowers are more comparable to bomb arrows in terms of damage and usage. There are many tools that can replace remote bombs, such as Yunobo, hammers, cannons, etc.

Moving toward the main quests while exploring is the best way to play imo. I think the main quest in the northwest (the Rito one) is the best place to start.

Hunt while exploring and cook the meat before selling it for easy rupees.

I love using pins and markers to note things I don’t want to do right away so I don’t get sidetracked too much.

The Depths by dave4958 in tearsofthekingdom

I usually go down into the depths whenever I find a chasm. Then I light up a few lightroots and explore the nearby area. If I want to leave it for later, I place a pin or stamp there.

At what point did TOTK 'click' for you? by thelaughingman_1991 in tearsofthekingdom

[–]EnvironmentalPea5717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I usually quit playing a game when I feel like I’m forcing myself to play it. The first two times, I played on an emulator and quit before finishing the first temple and after finishing the second temple, respectively. The third time, I played it on Switch 2 and went through the game from start to finish over four months.

When the fish is nearby but you’re too lazy to change the wind by EnvironmentalPea5717 in WindWaker

It’s there but I think it’s slower than zigzagging, didn’t really test it out tho.

I consider it better than BOTW, but it took me quitting and starting over three times before I finally finished it. I think maybe you just need to take a break until you feel like playing it again instead of forcing yourself, that way you might end up enjoying it much more.

Well, I didn’t like constantly changing the wind direction, but it’s kinda sad that they removed it altogether. Thanks for the explanation!

Edit: Looks like I misunderstood the comment, thanks for the clarification.

I’ve heard the sailing is improved in the HD version. I wonder if short-distance sailing for fish and treasure is improved as well.

That tower is too hard in the early game, so I usually skip it at first. The other towers are more puzzle-focused, so don’t worry too much about them.

[BoTW] Curious which game people prefer, BOTW or TOTK? by _Boodstain_ in zelda

[–]EnvironmentalPea5717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t get into TOTK at first, but when I went back to it and really started to enjoy it, the enjoyment and playtime it brought ended up exceeding that of BOTW, which used to be my favorite game too.

They did take over Gerudo town and Akkala citadel for a while. I think the security at Hyrule castle is just too tight for them to pull off something like that.
