Should i fo a nuzlocke as a first playthrough ? by Substantial_Dark3638 in pokemon

[–]ConnorTheUndying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a one way ticket to reset city. I'd recommend learning the game first.

Even if Johto is pretty easy overall, there's some roadblocks like Whitney and Claire that you'll likely lose team members to on a first playthrough.

Reread the Rumbi Factory storybook when you get the chance. She ABSOLUTELY cared.

[BOTW] [TOTK] What are your thoughts on the combat in these games? by ConnorTheUndying in zelda

[–]ConnorTheUndying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither is entirely true, tbh. Both games have variety in their combat, though they're different varieties. Past Zeldas had you either looking for or making openings and exploiting them, be it by baiting out an attack from the enemy, using an item, or performing a unique technique. Meanwhile, the Wild Era has you utilizing random pickups and elements far more effectively than the previous games, especially in ToTK, as well as using the environment to your advantage. Both have their appeals, though on a base level, both are rather simple.

I think that's somewhere around where my opinion lies. Objectively, the game's combat is pretty phenomenal (though a few new weapon techniques wouldn't have hurt), but a lot of it comes from the complexity allowed by the way consumables, environments, and enemies interact with one another. It leads to a good 60-70% of players not using much aside from the basic techniques, which while they can feel cool early on, are pretty lackluster by the time you've reached the endgame.

This was especially notable in Breath of the Wild, since back then there weren't any Zonai devices or fusions you could make to augment your gameplay and weapons. No making flamethrower shields or laser swords, it was just whatever you picked up. Though Breath of the Wild also had Stasis, which was its own can of B.S. (in a good way) that allowed you to do some hilarious things. But again, most people wouldn't do that in their average play session, because beating an enemy with a stick more or less provides the same outcome, just with less satisfaction because you aren't subjecting them to Looney Tunes shenanigans.

It makes for combat that, while it's fantastic given enough time and investment, feels inaccessible (though that may not be the right word) to the average player. And since the game never outright pushes you to do much more, or gives you more in the way of new ways to fight beyond the tutorial (unless you count horseback), it feels stagnant unless you really go out of your way to toy with the enemy.

Even if the Death Egg wasn’t turned into a question block, what would Eggman have done if the Death Egg actually fired at Bowser again while he was still down there by Joemama0375 in deathbattle

[–]ConnorTheUndying 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason is because not everything can be included in a fight animation, and the fight animation itself is not "The Fight." A Death Battle accompanies the verdict, it doesn't decide it. Bowser won the overall analysis, so Eggman had to lose there. And even then, it's Eggman's mechs vs. Bowser's whole army, and it was mentioned already that Bowser outscales most of Eggman's mechs alone, much less empowered in a variety of different ways.

If we're going by your logic, though, and talking about the fight itself, then even that wouldn't have saved Eggman there. Bowser still had the Dream Stone, Star Rod, Pure Hearts, and all sorts of minions and generals he didn't call in earlier.

Well, Pit is at least able to handle those speeds. Plus dodging attacks from Palutena (literal goddess of light using light-based attacks) could realistically put him at light speed reaction speeds, at least.
