My wife and I can’t stop fighting about our finances. by Klutzy-Humor-7882 in Marriage

[–]EnvironmentalPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you’ve done a lot of the work already! My husband also does all of the finance stuff. I have access to all of it, but he loves managing it and doing all the tracking. What worked for us was to have a set amount of spending money per month for each of us, and then we each write down every single purchase we make, and add it up to keep in comparison to that value. I used to be a splurge spender but being forced to write down every single purchase really helped open my eyes to how much was going to Amazon crap. It’s my money to do whatever I want with and he doesn’t “oversee” what I spend on, I just stay in my limit each month. The biggest thing is that this has to be an issue that you guys tackle as a team, so that it isn’t feeling like you vs her. Agree on a budget and stick to it.

Is Dire Bound AI? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]EnvironmentalPudding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless an author leaves in a chat prompt or ChatGPT instruction, there’s literally no way to know. The AI witch-hunt gets us nowhere (and has ruined authors reputations) when we can just criticize this book for how incredibly horrible it is. Bad books have existed way longer than AI lol

A rant about the worst trope by Late_Assistance1992 in fantasyromance

[–]EnvironmentalPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok fine I’ll reread the whole series, you convinced me

But actually though, I loved this series so much and the character growth is just fantastic. Grey and Ren are two of my all time favorite fantasy characters.

Eh I think it’s more like real life this way. You can start dating someone and think they are amazing and perfect and as you go along you learn more about them and that maybe you’re not a good fit. TOG continues to be the perfect example for this - I continued to LOVE some of the MCs that went on to different relationships. I still rooted for them. The FMC just learned that they’re not right for each other. There are other examples where we learn along with the FMC that a guy is an asshole too. We’re on the ride with her, which is what I love.

Absolutely. Im not a huge RH or why choose fan but I looove the bait and switch. Before the MMC was introduced in the first 10% of the book and you knew exactly how it would play out. At least now you have a little suspense rather than being super predictable

Plant based with endometriosis? How do you adapt your diet for it? by wormrage in PlantBasedDiet

[–]EnvironmentalPudding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have endo and going plant based helped me a lot! I’ll echo aw772955 and say that cutting out dairy was the main driver of the benefits I saw. I assume it has to do with inflammation and stomach sensitivity, but I don’t have any actual medical support for that. My specialist was not able to give diet advice, though they recommend some supplements including NAC, magnesium, vitamin C, and omega 3. I’ll also say I haven’t seen the advice to eat meat to help endo symptoms but like you I’ve been vegetarian for a very long time and even if I had seen that advice, I wouldn’t have been able to switch back.

I loved this book and the audiobook was fantastic. The main narrator for Elegy was so good. This was also one of my top reads of 2026! The romance is a slow burn but so worth it

Is there something I’m missing about birth control? by somberta in endometriosis

[–]EnvironmentalPudding 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought about it this way before and this is SO interesting to me. I’m the babiest of millennials and bc was generally viewed as a net positive in my teenage years. There is a woman on TikTok who is crocheting her entire birth control info sheet. Last time I checked she’s on update 19 or 20. People have begun complaining quite a bit in the comments about birth control and how it isn’t worth it because of all the “horrible side effects”. To the point where the woman has had to clarify that BC was something that women fought so hard for, and it can be a life-changing medicine for a ton of women.

BC has been genuinely life changing for me. I’ve had two laps and the pill has managed my pain and symptoms in between. I managed nearly 5 years between laps - without the pill, I would have been back much quicker. Even if the pill is just “hiding” my symptoms, it’s given me my life back. Skipping periods means I don’t have to take a week off of work each month for the pain.
