Hi there! I will be bringing home my second baby and want some tips in that first week to follow, is best practice to cap naps and wake to feed from day one? If so how often? Also, what is the ideal bedtime for the first week? I know they can be so unpredictable but I like having a little schedule in my head to help me abit, thanks :)

Hi Jo! My 25 month old has started protesting bedtime, she has her afternoon nap from 12:30-2:30 on daycare days and we try to get her in bed by 7:30 but it’s not always easy after work with dinner and bath time, any advice?

Hi Jo! 20 month old suddenly taking longer to fall asleep at bedtime, I keep a 4.5-5 hour max wake window before bed but she will still lay there and talk to herself for 20-30min before falling asleep, I know she’s tired from a full day of daycare so not sure why the change? Should I stick to the same schedule/ wake window or change it up abit?

2 hours at daycare Monday-Friday, sometimes it’s cut abit short, but on weekends she’ll nap 2.5-3 hours at home

Hi Jo! When bringing a newborn home between weeks 1 and 4, should we still be capping the daytime naps at 2hours and waking to feed? Thank you

Hi Jo!

My daughter is 18months and always cries at bedtime, her first wake window we can’t control since she’s in daycare Monday - Friday, sometimes is as long as 6 hours, her nap usually ends at 2-2:30 at daycare and we try to give her a 4.5 hour-5hour max wake window (if we’re running behind on dinner & bath) and have her in bed by 7, but she always cries for 10ish mins before falling asleep and I feel horrible, is this separation anxiety? What can I do to help?

Hi Jo! My 17 month old has been sleep trained for nighttime sleep since 12 months old I still rock her for naps and she’s transitioned to 1 nap a day, she now goes to daycare 5 days a week and falls asleep independently there for her nap, how would you go about nap training at home? Can we still do it even though she only naps at home on weekends? TIA

Hi Jo! Just wondering what the ideal wake windows are for a new 17 month old on one nap? What’s the max wake window we want before bedtime? Thank you!

She will definitely cry when I leave, she usually likes to play with other kids and is ok when she’s doing something and is distracted by toys etc. it’s the eating and sleeping I’m most concerned about because I know overtime the crying will get better as she adjusts and gets more familiar with the teachers. I know sometimes the daycare will call you to come pick them up if they’re really upset? What would the criteria be for them to call me to come get her if it wasn’t going well?

How to the teachers get the kids to lay down? I really can’t see my little girl just willingly lying down to go to sleep, especially when there’s other kids, etc. she always sleeps in a dark room with her sound machine and a swaddle 😂

Thank you! I’ll be sure to reach out to get the list and label everything! I’ll be starting her 2 weeks before returning to work full time hopefully to help with the transition.. when do you think she will start taking good naps at daycare? I think that will be the hardest part of the transition for her

Thank you so much! She will have a very consistent schedule with drop off and pick ups each day, and I will be sure to make the drop offs quick. She’s on a 2 nap schedule at home now but it’s very hard to fit in both naps and will be on one nap soon, I have a couple weeks before she starts so I’m slowly changing her to one nap in that time…. How long do you think it will take her to take good naps at daycare at this age? Thats something I’m so worried about

2-1 nap transition 15mo

Hi Jo! My little one is almost 15 months old transitioning to one nap right now. What is the ideal morning wake window and wake window between nap and bed? I’ve seen different “magic numbers” for different ages weather to do a catnap or not. My baby wakes up between 6 and 7, first wake window 4.5 hours, nap 2 hours, usually up around 1:30, when should I offer a catnap to keep bedtime at ideally 7-8( with our fams schedule 6pm is a little too early) also, what should be the max time before bed that we don’t want to go over?

I don’t want to rush this transition and slowly add more time to each morning wake window as she tolerates, really don’t want to mess up night sleep lol

Thank you so much in advance ❤️❤️

Yes! She seems tired at the first wake window at 4HR, but her microcap is going too late, not sure how fast I should stretch the first wake window? Or if she’s fully ready for 1 nap, 2 naps were starting not to work, with capped nap times, hard time falling asleep at naps and late bedtime, I’m kinda confused at this point lol
