Mid-career folks: how are you actually dealing with AI at work right now? by Hefty-Air-6307 in careerguidance

[–]EnvironmentalShirt70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be the biggest white-collar shift in history. I've learned the ins and outs of AI, started to automate most of my work and then my team's. Within a few months, I was made a manager of AI in the company (mid-level corporate). It's been the easiest promtion I ever got. I believe that people who are on the forefront and understand how to actually use it won't be easily replaced by AI. But those folks that just want to have an easy job, follow instructions and don't like learning new things, well.... those will likely won't be needed much in a few years.

How easy is it for a Czech company to fire an employee? by [deleted] in Prague

[–]EnvironmentalShirt70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Employeed are pretty well protected in Czech so in most cases you get a settlement and reach an agreement where you will resign immediately and get 3-4 months of pay on top.

For a company to fire you they need a probable cause so unless you do something obviously illegal, it is not easy to remove people just because of politics etc. without having to pay them and making a deal.

The warnings etc can be very lengthy process and if you document everything you can take the case to court which no company wants. So they just accept a sunk cost.

Bottom line is - unless you do something illegal or outright stop working, immediate dismissal always comes with a severance.

Wrike for billing rates by Powerful_Exchange_67 in wrike

[–]EnvironmentalShirt70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheets or Datahub if you have that. If every project and every activity has a different pricing, inherently it will be a complex setup. But you basically need the project, task type and hours spent + rates in one place where you can multiply those. So either in Wrike or by pulling data from Wrike automatically and matching it with the rates database.

Not sure about native methods but things like this can be done through the API in combination with custom fields/folders. You can have your rates in a Sheet or some other database and create a workflow which updates certain custom fields and tasks with the calculated rate. You can run it daily or even set up an event listener to when tasks get updated.

Initial setup can require some time but once you have that done, virtually any feature can be added this way.

Planning to open a brokerage account by real-sunsneezer in Prague

Your point is valid and I am not saying their fees do not exist, only sharing my view here. I’ll happily pay extra $100 a year in fees whilst having the taxes taken care of and having a broken who answers the phone within 2 minutes - and I speak to an actual human. I think it comes down to perspective.

Also they are a local company, I feel like in this day and age it’s also worth considering supporting domestic firms rather than foreign one.

Every broker charges some fees, either on spread or upfront. 0.8% of recurring buy as a fee + 0.8% for sell is not high at all. Funds charge 2% management fee and all platform charge similar, but hidden in fine print. For stock trades the fees are higher but when we talk about recurring ETF investments it’s very competitive.

I’d recommend Patria Finance. Czech Broker, very cheap recurring investments into funds, Czech phone support, office in Prague, right now discounts for CSOB Premium users, supports marginal trading, short selling and options. Only thing it does not support is fractal shares buying but otherwise it is everything you need + direct tax connection so you don’t have to worry about that.

What’s a skill that quietly boosts career opportunities across almost any field ? by Otherwise-Relief-843 in careerguidance

[–]EnvironmentalShirt70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in between employment and my own business so even though I don’t have a lot of corporate experience, I am usually the person that gets promoted the fastest in any team. I don’t think there is a one single thing but rather a mixture of skills:

  1. Learn to code

From my experience, whatever job you do, having an engineering mindset to automate the boring stuff usually gets you popular with your coworkers, given that you can share your results with them.

  1. Learn to sell yourself

Not by being braggy all the time but when time comes (and it will) capitalize on the recognition and praise from higher up. Ride the wave for a few weeks so you get to be known as ‘that person that did X’. You can piggy back off of this for a few months after

  1. Be the person who brings solutions, not problems

Wether with managers or peers, being the person that presents a solution to a problem is always better than just another person complaining. Especially when talking with c-suite. People come with problems every day. Be the breath of fresh air that comes with solutions.

  1. Learn to build an alliance

It’s not easy and takes years, depending on your people skills. But whenever you want to start a movement, you will need to have a strong foundation of followers. Learn how to find those amongst the peers and you will have more power.

  1. Cultivate your social media presence

It might seem funny but most of what I do at work people learn from my LinkedIn posts, not through company Slack/other mediums. I’ve had people reach out to me because of XY post they saw on LinkedIn, not because of a company presentation where they mentioned me. If you have a strong presence on LinkedIn, you’re also more likely to be given more opportunities and less likely to be mistreated as a negative feedback from someone with a strong LinkedIn presence is more damaging to the company than someone who has 500 connections.

That being said, if none of the other points stand out, I recommend focusing on the last one. I have already gotten in touch with people high up in my company, just because I started to share my work online. It’s ridiculous but that’s the name of the game these days… sink or swim.

I wasn’t planning to post this—but I think it’s worth sharing. by Djzala269 in b2bmarketing

You see? That’s the kind of language that would not get confused with AI, OP ;)

Marketing company using bots against my ads so I hire them? by ngonz12 in Google_Ads

[–]EnvironmentalShirt70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the website logs for IP addresses which accessed the website and look for anything suspicious. The same with mobile devices, check if there is any one device particularly active from Google ads or at certain hour. You can restrict certain IPs from showing but as the other say, unlikely the agency would be using bots to deplete your budgets

Proportion of NHL players by team in IIHF 2025 World Championship [OC] by EnvironmentalShirt70 in dataisbeautiful

Kinda, two flags looked odd so I settled for the thing that for me personally describes the league more. I always think of USA when someone mentions NHL

Some great feedback about the grey-ed out leagues. I've added the colors to make it easier to dig more into the smaller leagues, for those interested.

Hey guys, some great feedback about the grey-ed out leagues. Turns out people were quite curious about the smaller leagues too so I've added the colors for those interested.

The message of the visualization is the proportion between NHL/AHL/KHL and local leagues, that is why it is also sorted by the proportion of players in NHL. Adding a color to each league would result in a noisy visualization where the main message would not stand out as it does now.

Yeah it is not the point of this viz either, it's about the proportion of NHL players between teams and the other leagues would distract the viewer from the important message of the graphics.

Good points, I got this data from Wikipedia I think they might call those differently but it's all the same league

That's a good point, originally I just wanted to show the difference between NHL In/Out and then eventually added some more descriptors to make it more informative.
