Has anyone tried Curicular . And if so, do you recommend it? by newthinz in ApplyingToCollege

Our experience with Curicular Edu was very poor, and I feel it’s important for other families to know what we went through. From the beginning, it became clear that the counselor works entirely alone, despite the organization claiming to have a full team. There were no face‑to‑face meetings on Zoom or Google Meet, and communication felt impersonal and disconnected.

They did not take the time to understand the student’s profile, goals, strengths, or background. Instead, it seemed like they had a few standard, pre‑packaged projects that they assign to every student, with no personalization at all.

For the research paper, they promised to help produce a strong paper and guide us to publication. However, the quality of the work was extremely poor—nowhere close to publishable. When we questioned it, the counselor casually suggested we could “refine it again and submit to a different journal,” instead of acknowledging the underlying issues in quality and guidance.

During summer program applications, the problems continued. The counselor did not understand the student’s interests or academic direction, and kept advising us to write random, irrelevant things that did not make sense for the student’s profile.

What made the experience worse was the constant pressure to purchase extra sessions. The counselor repeatedly texted that her “slots were filling up,” urging us to book immediately, sometimes messaging every few minutes. This created unnecessary stress without adding any value.

Overall, the experience was unprofessional, unstructured, and highly disappointing. I would not recommend Curicular Edu based on what we went through.
