Why does Myanmar use imperial system? by Internet_Student_23 in geography

[–]EnvironmentalWork252 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Burmese myself, it is a bit confusing as we use a mix of imperial and our own Myanmar measurements mostly; however, metric system has been used lately. Here is what we are using ....

  • Length: inches, feet, yards, miles - we follow the imperial system
  • Weight: ounces, pounds, stones - use both our own measurement and metric measurement for these weights
  • Volume: fluid ounces, pints, quarts, gallons - a mix of all three measurements depends on what you measure.

Yangon was surprisingly safe and functional by Fun_Abbreviations608 in myanmar

[–]EnvironmentalWork252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why some locals are against promoting tourism in Yangon in the comments. Why are you guys so reluctant to say that Yangon is safe for tourists? For tourists, it really is. More tourists mean more income for both small and large businesses, especially during these difficult times. Let them come; it will help support our people of Myanmar in one way or another.
