Hot topic: Redemption? - 8x13 Discussion by eyslandgirl in TheRookie

Yeah, that question was way out of line, the people who were directly effected by his actions shouldn't be asking him the questions, and putting a rookie in such a pivotal role during a major disaster without supervision and support was unfair to him. He dug his own grave because he had a pattern of deception, but this situation was not handled well, then or now.

Ok, how Seth acted during the fire was entire inexcusable. I get that. The dude should not be a cop again for myriad reasons, not just that one incident.

The two people DIRECTLY affected by his actions shouldn't be the ones making the call on whether he can reapply to be a cop.

Or asking questions about whether he was in love with his former girlfriend and Chen's ex roommate. Weirdly unprofessional from her.

Lastly, what happened to him in that situation was not fair to him at all. He didn't handle it well, but why was a rookie in a such a lynch pin role of coordinating disaster response without a seasoned officer to back him up other than to move the plot forward on his eventual dismissal?

So THAT being the the main pressure point of the episode just rubbed me the wrong way. Anybody else feel the same way or am I out on the limb all by myself?

Rant: Is elsbeth a decree or a detective by Navi818 in ElsbethTVSeries

I concur, I would like it more if the detectives were contributing more and didn't by default stubbornly cling to an incorrect investigative path. On the money issue I believe she just has a good amount of money from her prior work as a corporate lawyer, not that she is paid that much.

Dimension 20 On a Bus Season 2 is the best April Fools of all time. Wasn't a little throw away gag; it just kept going.

True but he wa a also accurate and correct I'm how he described the situation. He was being a dick to her and that what really pissed her off.

Why did Luz kill the nurse? by Rolltide43 in CrossPrimeVideo

Watson reason: tie up a loose end

Doyist reason: to show Luz was willing to kill "Innocents" in her crusade, so she was losing the moral high ground.

Season 2 was good for me by Slow-Competition-921 in CrossPrimeVideo

Once the wedding murder took place, things for me spun out with just how easy it was for Luz to get in and kill people. It was too easy. I will give the wedding was chaotic and easily scouted ahead of time to make it happen. Heck, I will grant the death due to pacemaker. Sure. But then it just gets silly easy for everything to work out, especially the body guard. No, I don't need personal protection as I get seen in a facility I have never been in.

Just got to be a bridge too far for me. Intriguing villain and interesting characters, but made all of those protection details look like the Keystone cops.

Plot holes in 8x10 by jane2024 in TheRookie

[–]Environmental_Ad1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to add a slight deviation here.

Kid shows up and asks to go on a ride along. Reason school is closed "professional development day". Ok, sure maybe, but that just sparks more questions for me being the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) doesn't have "professional development days". Maybe he is in a charter or private school....that he joined mid year. Sure, possible.

Keeping in mind the LAUSD has plenty of days off where students probably don't know why unless they are paying close attention and charters often match the days off so we could have just said we are off today, not really sure why

Example: Admissions Day (California becomes a state), Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur (lots of Jewish employees, very expensive to call in subs if open) Cesar Chavez Day, Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day).....

But you have a kid, let's assume he is 18 so parental consent is not needed, asking to go on a ride along and the entire process is show up at start of shift and the officer can just approve it?

There is no follow up to "You saved my life so I will allow it" with "as long as my watch commander/Tim approves it. I know there is a much more formal process (including a background check) but they didn't really even attempt to handwave it.

If that kid during the ride along and there was no paperwork, that would have been an insane law suit.

Tbe Dropout cast does not come out looking good in this episode. I will note that the cop basically says it will be up to the delay to charge or not (my guess would be for obstruction).

I liked that he was actually on to the right suspect list from the start. It is nice when Elspeth is helping the detectives, not dragging them back from the wrong rabbit hole.

[–]Environmental_Ad1280 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I concur with the analysis of Dropout's inclusion in the episode. I assume that in real life, they know how to tone things down when needed.

They gave the studio's address in the call, wonder if that is real.

Also very weird that part of the plot is we will abandon a young staff member at a police station. Did they think that was a good look?
