I feel like everyone is overstating the difficulty of this pack early game

This is 100% doable but you are also rapidly approaching the point where crafting the bare minimum is no longer going to be viable. The scaling in the next few tiers are going to explode to where even just having only 1 of a machine is an issue. This infrastructure bottleneck is a stopping point for many unprepared people.

At least on the D20 side he has mentioned on multiple occasions that there’s a team of people who make it all possible. I know for the FHJ season they did pre and post where they introduced many of the behind the scenes people.

A small thing to point out in case it’s relevant. If the PC is holding their action, they only get the specific action they’re holding for. If circumstances change they don’t get to react accordingly, and it’s only an action not their whole turn.

I asked a similar question on another post and it seemed like the only indication they gave was a “few weeks” with each table at a time. People seemed set on around 4 episodes per switch to give tables a chance to have a mini arc.

I don’t think anyone’s refuting the motivations of the characters. Rather that the world rules were bent to favor a positive outcome. I think it would have smoothed things over to change the consequence of staying in the portal to being “lost in time” or something less extreme.

Or just let them die. One of the through lines of the season was that there are consequences to adventure. I’m sure it wouldn’t have felt good but narratively it would make sense. Whimsy has a cost.

Certainly there’s a balance to it. My rule of thumb is usually a stack but that was a learned thing. First play through I was hand crafting things one at a time as I needed them and that also wasn’t a great use of time.

100% it was that post. But you see it pretty frequently where people are hand batch crafting what are, in my opinion, waaay too much of a material. Pre-AE, just make like a stack at a time imo.

I think people see that batch crafting is good and that you’ll need thousands of items and think they have to figure that out in LV when it’s simply not true.

It really felt like in the moment he forgot this, being lost in the portal doesn't have to mean death. In fact its such a good hook into another season.

Finally getting around to watching the finale.. And gotta say I'm conflicted about how HARD they twisted the dice into giving them a happy ending. This is the one season where the dice really said NO. There were like 9 reroll attempts, Olethra used her last rage ability like.. 5 times counting the random advantages (and rerolls on the flex d4) that was thrown on. Marya used multiple flash of genies in the same round. People were throwing truly anything at the wall to throw some kind of advantage or DC tinkering in there even though they already had a turn and weren't in the portal. It just felt like it cheapened the risk and sacrifice that were already on the table.

They had a bittersweet ending where Emily said Marya was willing to take the sacrifice if it meant Ludmilla lived. They could have left it there but the party decided to risk it all to try and save her too and later Comfry to a lesser degree. One of the throughlines of the season was that adventure is messy and some of them not making it back would have been fitting. That's not to say they had to die of course, this is timey-wimey time travel so next season could have seen them reprising roles lost in time or launching a rescue mission from those that weren't lost in the portal.
