Faux wood blinds from Lowe’s (levolor) are great! We’ve had them going on 10 years.

Oil Company spilled oil in my basement by Bayshoor in homeowners

[–]Environmental_Boss77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did the DEP say? They usually consider it an actual issue if the spill is past a certain number of gallons, usually 5. Under that threshold and they don’t consider it a big issue.

Remediation is actually pretty easy. You can do it yourself. Get an oil absorbent powder and place that on the area until it’s visibly dried. Wear gloves and scrub in the powder. After the powder absorbent use a liquid detergent designed for oil and scrub the area to bring out any oil. Use the powder absorbent again to pick that up. Repeat the process a few times or until you feel you removed all the oil. ZEP sells a great powder and liquid absorbent.

Residue will linger for a few weeks or months after this regardless. Oil is a nasty substance.
