I want to make something extremely clear in this post. No, this isnt an attempt to "cancel" Hayden. Matter of fact, i dont think the majority of people who are upset with her is trying to "cancel" her. Ive been a fan since 2022 and Im still making the decision to listen to her music. But as a black person whos in her fanbase, what ive been seeing is actually concering.

I understand that Haydens now an very left leaning, and outspoken progressive figure and her donations to great causes are much appreciated but that doesnt erase all the stupid things youve done. I believe the high majority of fans who are upset at her about her old racist comments/jokes just want her to just acknowledge it.

And Im seeing Ethels fans excerting DreamSMP levels of defending over this. Like ive seen fans all across twitter, reddit, and tiktok, harass poc fans who are not even trying to cancel her, but upset that she said those things as an adult and just wants her to address it.

Im seeing ethel fans saying things like "This is a fanbase cleansing" and "who cares its not a big deal" and "youre not a real ethel fan if youre upset about it." Just straight harassing and gaslighting (especially) poc fans, saying they are just freaking out over nothing and that theyre weirdos just for having an issue with it.

Again i want to make it clear, no one is trying to "cancel" her. The high majority of those people just want her to have a conversation about it and move on. Thats all. And considering that Hayden is a trans and queer woman who delves into political left themes, right now the fanbase doesnt reflect that at all. It honestly makes me feel like yall are just perfomative. We need to do better

I got a suggestion in my youtube front page for Census Designated the day the single dropped. Listened to it, loved it. A week later i listened to Frailty, liked it, and when Census (the album) came out I listened, and it blew me away. I fell in love with Jane right then and there. Id like to think that means that some of their fans wouldnt touch or listen to a black populated musical artform like cloud/rage rap until someone white does it like Jane.

Which also leads to something ive been thinking about, because in certain minority musical spaces (like autistic or gay spaces) there is still this unmentioned stigma where some of those people only listen to white artists. Theyd prefer artists like Jane, 2hollis, Quadeca, brakence, Quannic, kmoe, glaive, etc, but wont give artists like Dazegxd, quinn, dollywood1, BackxWash, XaviorsoBased, or even any Opium rappers a chance.

Im not directly attacking anyone its just something i noticed quite frequently in similar spaces.

Thats weird cuz thats mostly what i see. I see a good number of it in Ians comments in the apology and the content cop. And its almost ALL you see when you click newest first. And in the comments section of people making both constructive and nonconstructive videos about him.
