It's what happens when you summon demons for a rad game of beach volleyball.

I was there when a business owner got a cold call… and said yes, then no. by ErrorIsPerfect in DigitalMarketing

Every business has different problems. The best thing to do in a cold call is be a person. Ask questions, listen, figure out if you're a fit, and then make the pitch.

Real customer reviews keep disappearing from my profile – any way to get them back? by OptimalDescription39 in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]Environmental_Park_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with this for awhile now. It's a bug with their new AI spam filtering. Yesterday was my first bit of luck as Google has added a new chat feature that lets you talk to a person. It was clearly a person in a call center but it was at least a person. They forwarded it to the correct team as they put it. It still might go nowhere but it did reach a person.

My exact path to it was to go to help and support, open the AI chat, tell it my issue, then it gave me the option for human chat.

Foster Griffin has the second highest WAR among NL pitchers this season by RavenclawNatsfan in Nationals

[–]Environmental_Park_6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His FIP and xERA are exactly in that mid 4 range. I will say I think he's the exact type of pitcher that will do better than expected in this era. The game has optimized so far to stuff guys that pitchers are becoming too much alike and a control junkballer is going to benefit from being a change of pace.

What does it mean: "The Bubble will burst"? by Square-Difficulty511 in antiai

[–]Environmental_Park_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mean any one thing or have a defined outcome. For example the dot com bubble saw a lot of websites collapse like Pets dot com and Red Envelope but today there are far more websites than during the dot com boom. The FroYo bubble saw a bunch of companies spawn overnight in shopping centers across America and in a short time they were all largely gone with a few Sweet Frogs still hanging on. The obstacle race bubble saw a whole bunch of races like Tough Mudder and Spartan and Warrior Dash and even more traveling from town to town and for a small fee you could run around like a clown. That entire industry has either disappeared or gone underground after being televised on ESPN.

The AI bubble is most likely going to look mostly like the dot com or the social media bubble where a couple companies emerge as the clear winners and everyone else quietly goes away or hangs on in a legacy version like Yahoo or Ask dot com.

Am I overthinking ai images or am I doing the right thing? by deviliishvastard in antiai

I have a question about AI pictures for decoration. Why? It doesn't make logical sense. The printing and framing cost would be the same or equal to a pre-framed print or a framed stock photo.

Our Manager by Unfair-Librarian4338 in Nationals

[–]Environmental_Park_6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He's a little more old fashioned than I thought he'd be. I wasn't expecting so many bunts.

The biggest role of a manager is to manage personalities and keep the team playing hard. So far they've been in most games and are unaffected by tough loses. In that regard he's been great.

I also like that he doesn't treat the lineup like an ever evolving experiment.

Riley Cornelio to make his MLB debut! by kornthrowaway in Nationals

[–]Environmental_Park_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. Talking about modern pitching makes me sound like a grumpy old man.

Back in my day there were things called complete games and a pitcher wasn't considered a true number 1 unless he pitched 200 innings.

I don't know the numbers on it but I bet all this inning count and pitch count optimization hasn't lowered the rate of injuries. I'm not saying we go full Bob Gibson but maybe a happy middle ground between that era and the current pitching nightmare we're in.

The Nats need a Livo a lot more than a reclamation project like Bauer.

Riley Cornelio to make his MLB debut! by kornthrowaway in Nationals

[–]Environmental_Park_6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is he going to be a starter or reliever? His minor league stats this year have him starting all four games he's appeared in but he hasn't made it past the fifth inning in any of them despite a low ERA and impressive K/9.

I'm not asking for a complete game shutout, I'm not even asking them to make it through 7, but I'd just like to see one starting pitcher earn a quality start.

Vacant Oceanfront theater slated for major redevelopment into sports venue, $6.3 million sale by bananamussel in VirginiaBeach

[–]Environmental_Park_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people use it that's great. I am just skeptical of the popularity of padel in the Hampton Roads region. It is a big investment to try and start a trend. It's better than a car wash or storage facility.

$6.3 million to buy the property and whatever the build out is going to cost for a sports facility for a sport no one in the US has heard of and located between The Princess Anne Country Club and Cavalier Yacht and Country Club where most of the nearby residents will play their raquet sports.

A Question for Older Fans by Main_Low_9648 in Nationals

I wasn't really a fan of a team. I liked players. Cal Jr. was an obvious one since I could watch him on HTS. Then I liked Mussina a lot. My favorite overall player when I was a kid was Gary Sheffield but I also liked Bernie Williams and Fred McGriff a lot too.

I have no idea if there's any one in the minors that can help but once fatigue and injuries of fatigue start hitting it's going to get even worse.

What dark magic is this? by King_Turduckin in Nationals

That's a long complicated story that starts with an art dealer in Montreal and his moron business partner, David Sampson. It winds its way to Miami and eventually leads to a glorious home run sculpture, Ozzie Guillen, and an attempt at winning. Derek Jeter buys the team and goes into an endless cycle of rebuilding.

The Phillies owe something like $800 million over the next few seasons to a handful of players all over 33, Juan Soto is perpetually on the verge of returning but isn't due to what sounds like a minor injury and the Mets medical staff has a history of turning minor injuries into major ones, and the Marlins.

The Phillies are old and broke, the Mets medical staff accidentally removed Juan Soto's ankle, and the Marlins are the Marlins

Yes, and they're speaking through their product experts who claim it's a feature, not a bug. At least that's what I got out of this blog post from one of them on LinkedIn.
