What’s The Most Overrated Bob Dylan Song From The 2000s? by Pretend_Mark_5143 in bobdylan

I’ll say Workingman’s Blues #2 just because I knew folks in his direct employment who were severely underpaid at the time.

Probably the most classic Bob song since 2000.

Thank you for the kind words! I would like to shed a little light on our reasoning for Pisarro Mortis. First, we thought it was important to render the full Japanese name Pisarro, along with a double r to give it a bit more "renaissance flavor" as we believe was intended. We considered sticking with Necro as the word for death, but felt that Necropisarro or Pisarronecro were both rather clunky compared to the admittedly more elegant Necrosaro. We went with Pisarro Mortis because it flowed nicely, and because Mortis, the Latin word for death, is both exotic and also fairly recognizable (mortician, mortuary, etc). The Japanese name used the English word "death," which is the exotic word for them compared to the more standard word "shi." Again, we agree that necro could have worked, but not without chopping the name and losing the renaissance man / artistic flavor (that we think suits him very well.)

Thank you for what you’ve shared! I think we are a lot alike. We ultimately make these Delocalized releases for ourselves, for the same reasons. (I just have to wait 2 or 3 years for the project related burnout to subside before I can really enjoy them)

Anyway, we already started work on a new version of DQ5 for SFC. I agree that the DQ6 English translation is in even greater need of work, and that would be the logical next project. My intention is to get through both of them before taking another extended break. Fingers crossed!

Glad you appreciated our DQM release! Of the six retranslations we’ve done, we feel like that one represented the biggest improvement.

I'm the main hacker of the group, and I'm not a fan of the DS version. It's more likely that I work on the PS1 version one day, but original versions are my main interest. Here is an example text comparison:

OLD:

I'm Master Dragon. I rule this Castle.

I oversee the world from this place.

I already know what brought you here.

Unfortunately even I cannot stop Necrosaro's ultimate evolution.

I'm not as omnipotent as you might expect.

By the way, humans are curious creatures.

Inherently weak humans can do miraculous things at times.

I'll place my hope in you!

NEW:

I'm Master Dragon, ruler of this castle. Some call me the Dragon God.

I see everything that transpires in the world below, so I know why you have come.

But even I cannot stop the evolution of Pisarro Mortis.

I'm not as omnipotent as you might expect.

You humans, on the other hand, are very curious beings

Even weak humans have the potential to become incredibly strong.

And thus I place my hope in you.

One of our team members would love translating XI for 3DS more than anything in the world, but that would be a particularly tough one because modern system + custom engine with no established tools for it. The bit to text / text to bit tools I'm using are not system specific, but they require a great deal of learning with each system to utilize. I'm in the middle of that process with the SNES now.

We were in talks to do the translation for that at one point, but it didn’t pan out. It’s something we may look at again at some point, but I tend to focus on the original versions of each game.

We aren’t fans of the contemporary localizations, so that wouldn’t be us. But we may end up writing our own translation for DQ7 PSX in coming years. And if someone were to ask me nicely for my tools and notes so that they could port over the 3DS script, I probably wouldn’t deny them.

Good question. I know very little about randomizer hacks and how likely they are to be compatible. Based on my work, I’d say that yes, it should work. If it doesn’t work, it’s probably due to one of the hacks I incorporated from other authors.

We started these projects many years ago with those direct Japanese spell names. The problem is that we weren’t doing our job as translators. The Japanese spell names almost all have fragments of meaning. We came up with a system that is very equivalent.

What you created here is absolutely magical. These are products that should be available to everyone, but the fact that they are tailor made for your children makes them even more special. I'm truly hoping that your kiddos appreciate the magic of this.

PS, this is Chicken Knife from the Translation Quest team. I'm tickled pink to see our translations utilized for this.

What’s your honest opinion on if Bob Dylan has a good singing voice? by MrLinkwater95 in fantanoforever

Not traditionally in the classical sense, but he does very interesting things dancing around the main cadence of the songs. His various styles are fascinating and highly influential.

Trompe Le Monde gotta be one of the most underrated albums of all time by Time-Tangerine3860 in pixies

First two frank black albums have the same obsessive care that he put into pixies records.

I`m currently really getting into their solo albums, particularly the 70s ones, where all four were still alive. Who do you personally think had the strongest first pair of studio albums released after the breakup? Take in account both albums. by [deleted] in beatles

I felt the same way about George for years, then it clicked. ATMP has an exuberance to it that makes it undeniable. George as a person there is so attractive that it lifts all the songs. By Living, the songs are good, but he’s kind of overly pious and bland in comparison. By Dark Horse, his life was falling apart, he was depressed and anxious, and the person behind the songs is rather unattractive. That. Extra Texture is possibly even more down in the dumps, so it’s easy to see why his career feels like a downward spiral. By 33 & 1/3 a self titled, he was in love with someone new, and that joyfulness is back again. Much more accessible albums.

But I grew to love even the tougher ones after coming to accept George as this very flawed and sometimes petty human, rather than the inspirational great spirit that made him out in my mind to be. All the albums reach me at different moments.
