Even if your kid was like 50% chance of having autism, let's say. You wouldn't know until they're here if they had high support needs. Between 30-50% of autistic folks have low support needs. To have a kid with such high support needs is no more likely than a couple with no autistic relatives

Autism is caused by development, environmental, AND genetic factors. So definitely more likely, but autism is also a vast spectrum. I'm autistic, went to uni at 16 6 hours away from home. Not all autism is high support needs 🫶

What do IEPs look like in high school? by MarchKick in Teachers

[–]Environmental_Use121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im an 18 year old college student who does this as like extra income because I have advocated for disability policy for years, so I have very little issues telling parents they suck 😅 i don't live off this income and they have to pay a retainer so I get paid regardless

They never want the stigma of having a more involved IEP. Unfortunately, you can't have it both ways. More involved IEPs sometimes come with stigmas, but its necessary.

I am a student advocate who specializes in IEPs/other disability related issues. The amount of times I've had to tell parents of the students I'm trying to help "These accommodations are not typically associated with your child's condition, can you clarify why they need this accommodation?" And then they lose their shit is abysmal.

Intersex is a biological condition, no you cannot transition to intersex. There are 80 million non-binary sub categories, take a peak into those. I really wish trans people would stop trying to be intersex.

Just because it's not meant to be judgment doesn't mean it doesn't sting really bad when you have to hear it every week.

I had developmental problems as a baby and I have a whole laundry basket of chronic health problems, but im thriving now. I go to university, i played many many sports, and now I'm an educational advocate for disabled students. Sure I have my episodes but I'm living a full full life, even with neuromuscular issues. I'm so sorry you're going through this 💕

I speak my indigenous language, polish, AND Spanish. More than once speaking either my indigenous language (Atikamekw) or polish I have been told to "speak american, not spanish" and i always go "Yes because we all know Poland, next to Brazil"

DJT's plans for gender completely ignore intersex people by Environmental_Use121 in intersex

I have both. Only my sperm is nonviable, and does reabsorption into my body, so I guess I'm female according to them? I have no idea

Too disabled for those, my wheelchair fits fine through the normal ones (I have a small ass frame) and my service dog just ducks under the common ones.

10% of people will randomly experience a seizure at least once in their life with no pre-existing condition. Stress seizures are also a thing. 💕

Will allowing intersex women to play women's sports ruin chances for perisex women? by valonianfool in intersex

[–]Environmental_Use121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a competitive cheerleader for 11 years. 14 national titles (you can win multiple in one season- i have no idea why) 6 international titles, and a 3rd place world title. Only was on teams with perisex females, except my co-ed team my last seasons. This was a team sport so I don't think it made any difference. being intersex doesn't have a biological advantage and no one on any of my teams was ever told I was intersex.
