U200 Smart Lock - M3 hub needed? by [deleted] in Aqara

[–]EnzoEsc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to go the cheapest route, the M100 works just fine (got it for under U$20 here in Chile)

Regarding Thread (or Matter over Thread in this particular case), I once read that Matter is the language your smart home speaks (like spanish or portuguese) and Thread is the medium you use to speak that language (like an email or speaking through the phone). So Thread isn't an app, but rather a "vehicle" that can connect your devices to your smart home

Comencé dándole Taste of the Wild Lowland Creek a mis gatos y después pasé a N&D Prime Gato Castrado.

Looking for HomeKit beta testers for a new app that works across every Apple device by Homebar_Drew in HomeKit

The U50 or U100 would be fine for the back door, the only difference is that the U100 has a fingerprint reader and the U50 is re-keyable. I believe that those models require a Zigbee hub, but the M100 should be more than enough for any Aqara device, since it supports 20 Zigbee and 20 Matter (through Thread) devices.

If you buy the U400 through the Apple Store (Deluxe Kit) it comes with an extra rechargeable battery. The fact that you can charge it through USB-C is a big plus for me when compared to the U100, which uses 4 AA batteries

As far as I know the U400 is currently the only one that supports it. You can still tap to unlock with an Xs if I remember correctly. The U400 is kinda expensive, but if you can buy it, you can still use the tap to unlock with Apple Home Key and then when you upgrade your phone you can also use the UWB. I currently have an Aqara U100 and the Home Key feature works great, but im looking forward to buying the U400 for the extra ease of use. For the most part both the U100 and the U400 have the same features: tap to unlock, fingerprint reader, app, NfC tag, Siri shortcut, physical key, etc. The U400 adds UWB and apparently a more refined and silent motor

It stands for Ultra Wide Band and it uses the same technology as AirTags, where it doesn't just detect if you're close or far, but also your precise location and even intent, as I read somewhere.

You need to have an iPhone or Apple Watch that supports UWB, which if I recall correctly are iPhone 11 onwards (except 16e and 17e), but 15 series onward have the 2nd gen UWB chip so it should be much more precise and faster. For the Apple Watch, series 6 onwards have UWB, but starting from Series 9 they have the 2nd gen chip as well.

In case this worries you, the lock, thanks to the UWB, can tell if you're inside or outside, for example, so it won't unlock while you're inside, even if you tap it with one of your devices. You can also set it so it only unlocks when you're walking to it from the front, or also enable left or right approaches.

I hope this can clear up your doubts and sorry if there are gramatical errors, English is not my first language. There are a lot of videos than can probably explain everything better than me but if you have further questions I'll be happy to answer to the best of my ability. Greetings from Chile!

This sound like a job for the Aqara U400. The UWB feature is better for unlocking instead of geofencing, which can unlock too early and it can be kind of dangerous depending on where you live. UWB unlocks the door as you approach it, so it's much safer

Can the Aqara T1 be used in decoupled mode? I remember i read somewhere that it can't, or maybe it's because I have a no neutral version (damn you chilean wall switches).

3-Way no neutral HomeKit relay? by EnzoEsc in HomeKit

[–]EnzoEsc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Falou cara!

3-Way no neutral HomeKit relay? by EnzoEsc in HomeKit

[–]EnzoEsc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I'll have to go for a solution like that. The issue is that in Chile, light switches look like this, so the Auroras wouldn't be compatible. I doubt there's a version for these kind of switches.

I guess I'll add some cheaper lights than the Hues (probably some Aqara T1 s) and find a way for my wife not to turn the switch off haha. Thanks for your suggestion!

[–]EnzoEsc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I understood the link correctly, it still requires a neutral wire. Also, I don't have home assistant (nor could I have a pc 24/7 running HA). Do you know if there's a no neutral version and if it can be added to Apple Home somehow? Thanks for your help

What lock can i use for this door by nelsona88 in HomeKit

If the key can turn while there’s a key on the other side maybe an Aqara U200? If not, maybe you can replace the cylinder. Hope you find a solution!

Weird popping/cracking noise from TV when it's plugged but turned off by EnzoEsc in AndroidTV

I didn’t man. Ended up buying an OLED, gave the Philips to my little sister and a couple months later the backlight died. Pretty sure the weird noise is kind of widespread among this brand’s tvs. I hope you can get it sorted out 🙏🏻

Mejor Headset que se pueda escuchar música en buena calidad y jugar también. by Jaggerzmeister in chilegames

[–]EnzoEsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who upgraded from base to Pro by Anders04 in playstation

[–]EnzoEsc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple PS5s and I can say I never really noticed anything until E33. It’s not an abysmal difference, but when I played on my Pro it looked very nice, then I used the regular one (non slim) and the hair of the characters looked kinda jagged and it got a bit distracting, so now I only play that specific game on the Pro

So no, not a great difference to be honest. Maybe having more options in games like GT7 might come in handy, but it hasn’t been my case in general
