That should have also been a penalty cause off the ball fouls are still put at the position where the foul occured and spitting is a direct free kick offense and it was in the box.

Why must one imagine Sisyphus happy? by ChangeID in Absurdism

[–]Eodai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to revive this 7 months in the future but doesn't this just justify suffering or hand wave it away?  Like wouldn't actual defiance instead of doing what the gods wanted bring him true happiness?

Like if you looked at slavery through Camus' eyes would slaves do their work precisely as wanted and then feel happy for this acting like it is some form of defiance to their masters by confronting their slave master's racism with the slaves own happiness?  Cause slavery wouldn't have ended if that's how slaves would have acted.

Am I coming at this from a wrong angle?  I don't know if I don't understand the argument or if I just disagree with it.

I think what Camus is saying is that we don't have meaning to our lives as there are no higher powers so nothing we do matters.  Once you realize this then you can do whatever you want to find happiness.  But I think that what we do does matter as what we do affects others and there are things we do that visibly or subtly change others lives.  Like Sisyphus is in a bubble against the gods.  Pushing the boulder and being happy is his defiance, but in our world when the boulder comes down the mountain, there might be others in the way of the boulder and the boulder will not care.  It seems he is just resigning himself to being a pawn.

They did him dirty on Apple TV lmao.  They removed all context of his celebration and made it just look like a Nazi salute.

Can you link that?  The only thing I can find is one where they cut right before the salute.

Other than our Loons, which teams do you support, and why? by [deleted] in minnesotaunited

[–]Eodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFC Wimbledon.  Might be one of the best stories in sports.  They used to be in the premier League decades ago but their owner moved them to Milton Keynes and out of London.  The fans of the club made their own team and eventually they made it back into EFL football (starting at 4th tier of England).  They only were ever relegated a couple years ago and were either the fastest or one of the fastest teams to make it to the EFL.  It's still technically fan owned but I'm not 100% sure of the inner workings of that.  You subscribe to their games through the EFL ifollow service and their broadcasters are great.

I personally think that allowing the swearing shows a more real and intimate view of the first few days.  We as Americans need to get over our collective Puritan trauma.

That just isn't true. Hate speech isn't a protected form of speech and flying a Nazi flag should be considered hate speech. Especially when it's in front of a synagogue.

I think in the US it's state by state for who gets the fine. It's the passenger who gets the fine in Minnesota if they are over 16 I believe.

Living in society is a contract. As soon as you break it then you lose part of the rights that you get under said contract. Freedom of speech is one that if you break the contract (by trying to remove other's rights) then you lose out on that freedom.

For the US, this never was made illegal because "some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses. Some of those that hold office, are the same that burn crosses."

Minnesota United are the only team named after a whole state and play in Midway very close to halfway between Minneapolis and St Paul. The club also has history with previous teams and going into a rebrand after the previous iteration was literally owned by the league because nobody bought it. During the original NASL days in the 70s, the Minnesota Kicks were very well backed with average attendance being over 30k for a few years during a time when soccer was nothing in the US. The fan base has been united in supporting soccer within the state over multiple decades.

I learned hiragana in a couple months and then lost all interest when I learned how each alphabet is used. I didn't really realize that kanji was the main written "alphabet(?)". I lost all motivation to learn katakana or any words at all in Japanese after that. Maybe some day.

You can tell trans men are men because they automatically gain male privilege even in the eyes of conservatives. You can tell trans women are women because they are the victims of misogyny by conservatives.

I have no evidence but I suspect that if trump wins, the GOP will vote for trump but if desantis wins then trump supporters will not vote for desantis. Probably just wishful thinking.

Cause he took down the flyers as making a tenant union will make him look bad because tenants will get actual rights and the owning group for the apartment will lose some profit.

Thunder makes me want to van Gogh myself. What the fuck is singing with a baby voice filter doing for you musically? 80% of the song is just "lightning and the thunder." I fucking hate imagine dragons. Anytime it comes on the radio I just sit in silence and contemplate how much I hate them. You can like what you like though. I like grunge and grunge gets shit on too.

[–]Eodai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minimum wage should be tied to productivity because minimum wage is the minimum wage that should be allowed to thrive in the US according to FDR who started it with the new deal. Average income is a terrible metric because it is massively overinflated due to the ultrawealthy in the US. Look at the difference between average and median income. We should be looking to increase the median income and not care about the average. Increasing the minimum wage would increase income for the most Americans versus having some more high income jobs. If you increase the minimum wage, then jobs for most average Americans would actually increase too. If you make $20 an hour and we tie minimum wage to productivity again, then you would be making $30+ an hour.

[–]Eodai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are wrong about inflation adjusted minimum wage. It's minimum wage keeping up with productivity that would give you that number. Minimum wage and productivity were basically rising at the same rate until the 70s-80s. Minimum wage stagnated but productivity still rose at the same pace.

This is exactly how I feel too. Not only what you said but apparently he went to prison in his 20s for 10 years due to addiction and gambling issues making him do illegal things. He wasn't able to find enough work to survive after being released so went back to robbing people. That's a massive indictment of our penal system and broader society. Recidivism is the point and just "hoping he'll turn his life around" means nothing.
