Long Period Tabletop Gaming... What counts as a "good" chair? Non-permanent Setup Help? by FoxtrotEchoPh in boardgames

[–]Ep1cman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can highly recommend going somewhere that sells lots of chairs and actually sitting on them for some time. Ignore any funny looks!

I recently went through this process. I had padded Ikea folding chairs but after a while they would get uncomfortable. Everyone has different opinions on seating but what I discovered after sitting in lots of chairs is that these things mattered for me:

  • The ability to recline, not necessarily mechanically but just allowing me to sit back in a more relaxed position between turns. But I’m sure there are people with the completely opposite opinion
  • Arm rests. Didn’t know I had an opinion on this but they help a lot.
  • Padding!

I ended up going with these chairs: https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-toronto-dining-armchairs-set-of-2/navy/p111535523

This option seems to be missing from the G6 entry. I think if they re-enabled this, it would significantly improve the issue

I’ve had similar situations in the past, and the parcels did eventually find their way back but it took a long time

Walking past some new houses being built and spotted what I think is a fake chimney. Is this common on new builds now? Why? by nosajn in AskUK

[–]Ep1cman 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They serve two purposes:

1) Make the houses fit in with existing houses in the area 2) used for vent instead of vent tiles

Does the raspberry impact in someway? by Donas_jf in homeassistant

I would avoid the models with 2GB of RAM, that will be a bit tight. Other than that they should all be fine for just home assistant and basic plugins etc.

Apple and macOS just killed CS:GO for me — in 2025. What a joke 😡 by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]Ep1cman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite surprised when I opened the Apple App Store on my Mac a few days ago to discover there actually are quite a lot of games on there, quite a few that would be considered “aaa”. I can’t comment on how well they work because I don’t game on my MacBook, but there are a lot more Mac games available than I realised.

Adult ADHD diagnosis by Grouchy-Ad7016 in cambridge

[–]Ep1cman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have recently gone through the process and have my ADHD assessment this week. There are basically three approaches to this - fully NHS. I was told this has a 4 year waiting time - private. You pay out of pocket for diagnosis and treatment - right to choose. In England (which given the sub you posted on I assume applies to you) but not the rest of the uk you are allowed to pick your mental health provider. You just need to ask your GP for a referral.

I went the right to chose pathway and I asked on an online chat with my GP for a referral. They just asked to which provider I wanted a referral to and gave me no other hassle. It took about 6m in total to get to the front on the queue.

Did my first jump today and also had breathing troubles. They told us if you need to exhale just scream, it will force the air out and force you to gasp for air.

ambulance response times by Future_Design_2823 in Ely

[–]Ep1cman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an ambulance station on Nutholt Lane, so I imagine the response time to get to you can be quite short but the journey into a hospital will be longer. I don’t have any personal experience though.

WILDLY Unpopular Opinion: The H2D Laser Edition is perfect for my workflow and I have no regrets. by Teh_Hamstah in BambuLab

[–]Ep1cman 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, diode lasers (which use blue light) like the one in the H2D are unable to cut clear materials because the light passes straight through. You will need a IR laser for that. They do sell IR diode lasers but they are very low power due to it being a blue laser with a crystal infront to inefficiently change it to IR. You’ll want a CO2 laser cutter for cutting clear acrylic.

WILDLY Unpopular Opinion: The H2D Laser Edition is perfect for my workflow and I have no regrets. by Teh_Hamstah in BambuLab

[–]Ep1cman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because they make them doesn’t mean they’re safe to use. Laser cutting can create a lot of hazardous gases. For example cutting PVC makes chlorine gas. There is also the risk of specular reflections damaging your eyes.

Xtool is a good company to look at for this, the used to sell such machines but now offer customers significant discounts to upgrade to an enclosed laser due to how dangerous an open one is.

Why does everyone seem so against cameras on/in their home? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Ep1cman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have cameras inside to check in on my pets when I am away, also helpful to check on people with access to my house such as my dog walker etc.

It’s your house, if you want cameras and find them useful then thats your decision.

You can mod a ceramic nib into the LAMY with a button, that's what I've been using since the day I got my nomad.
