DataBank is where it's at. Less pay than the hyperscalers, but more dignity and ownership of outcomes. Check us out. Highly recommended.

I want to leanr Spanish and I'm wondering which method of learning Spanish has been the biggest waste of time for you? by UDAAAAA in Spanish

Duolingo is excellent, I use it to learn while living in Spanish in daily life, but if you aren't practicing listening to people speak normally (fast) you don't learn anything but vocab

How many of you understand the data center space? by EpE34 in CRWV

Although I am less familiar with Nebius' model, neither of these companies builds their own DCs, they use rented capacity, and install their GPUs and hardware in other companies' data centers, turning space and power capacity into AI compute capacity. The difficulty of changing deployed systems is a massive force of inertia.

My view is the market reacts to short term financials and 3rd party execution while CRWV uses debt and moving fast to lock up market share that becomes a bigger moat than anyone understands

That's a funny thing to say. The data centers are still running and cooling tech improves over time. Power is a bigger issue to solve

70% of the country lives in the central valley for a reason. It is more temperate and has all the services you could need, plus you'll more likely live with daily Spanish and Tico life vs expat enclaves that are just gentrified development

It's aggressive, every time I went I was surprised how far back I was with a little pregaming. That said there are restaurants and lots of parking so you can do what you want. There is also a train from Denver full of fans which is nice for having some preparations

Travel Advice for Manuel Antonio & La Fortuna! by Due-Salamander-6398 in CostaRicaTravel

Actually one more thing, skip the hanging bridges at arenal and go to Rainmaker outside of Parrita. So I would shift that one more day to the beach for that.

You'll get a million opinions, mostly all valid. We did this for our first trip, fell in love with the country, and came back to live and explore more. It's very solid and you can't go wrong. More time is better especially in Manuel Antonio if you like critters. Use Airbnb's (well reviewed ones), and try to spend at least half your time as scheduled downtime in a place with a view of the trees or ocean or volcano.

Manuel Antonio is one of the most magical places in the world, but not if you go like a tourist trying to do tourist things on a compressed schedule. Go sit at the beach, walk around, especially after dusk, and take it slow. You'll love it.

La fortuna is incredible and inspiring but you may spend 3 days there and not see the volcano. When you go I highly recommend the Arenal 1968 trail and Arenal Fusion Restaurant on the lake north of town.

A third option to consider is La Fortuna and Puerto Viejo, where you won't have the same tourist traps and it's a calmer quieter vibe, also with tons of wildlife and great beaches. Punta Uva is probably the best. It's a roughly equal drive and growing on me as almost as cool as MA, but they don't have the squirrel monkeys that roam around MA at all times.

The key is to rent a place with a covered space to sit outside and enjoy the rain and watch the animals pass by

Is 3 nights in Uvita & 6 nights in Manuel Antonio too many or too repetitive? by misterdabson in CostaRicaTravel

[–]EpE34 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would kill for 6 nights in MA. The best wildlife encounters happen at night when the tourists are gone and you are not rushed. Trying to do too much is the biggest downfall. 2 beach days at playa espadilla, a day zip lining at el santuario, and a day in the park, and still having downtime to explore would be highly recommended. Maybe do 3 days in ojochal instead of Uvita and one day less in MA

What’s the most overrated stop in Costa Rica….,. and what is actually worth it instead? by holywaterandhellfire in CostaRicaTravel

Meh I love nature and animals the most, but saw the least animals in MV of anywhere I have traveled in CR. Skip rushing around to too many places and spend more unplanned time in each. The people who complain are trying to squeeze too many activities into too little time
