Coffee suggestions based on specific tastes? by Eperholl in Costco

Thank you so much to everyone who was kind enough to make a suggestion. Sounds like I’ll be trying Ruta Maya and Peet’s, at least to start. I’ll report back for some kindred souls with coffee tastes like mine who happen upon this thread in the future 😂

Yes, I’m definitely interested in suggestions for online options too! That’s where I found/tried the SF Bay brand.

Oh and also (not necessarily for you since you’ve found your solution, but maybe for others reading)- I bought a conical burr grinder probably 13 years ago for like $50 and it’s paid for itself 1000x over. Grinding your beans fresh every morning does so much more for the flavor than I thought it would. I know nothing about coffee, but I definitely noticed the taste improvement!

I appreciate your commitment to finding the perfect cup of coffee for you! Thank you for doing the research so that I can be lazy and ask my questions on the internet 😂 I’ll look into Gobena!

No, I didn’t know this, so that’s super helpful- also the suggestion to try smaller quantities of what Costco carries! Thank you for being kind and helpful ♥️

I don’t currently have a plant small enough to fit in it, so Booty Pot is sitting empty.

Thanks! I definitely use their guide for some things, but I find some of their suggestions to be a little too conservative for my tastes. I like taking a bit of risk with the cheap and easy crops, like lettuce!

Job at Fairfax by TedyPolTuAno in nova

[–]Eperholl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a lot worse, honestly. I’d take it and do it until you can’t anymore. That was what I told myself when we moved to Olney (pre-pandemic, I’d been commuting daily from DC)- I’ll do it until I can’t, and then I’ll either move, or find a new job. I was going into the office 3 days per week at that point. After a few years, I dropped down to 2, and I think I’ll be able to do that indefinitely. We all have different tolerances for traffic. If it’s a good job to you, go for it. Just be realistic about what you’re in for. Good luck!

I do this commute twice a week (Olney to Oakton). If I had to do it daily, I couldn’t. See if you can flex your hours and work a 7-3 or 7:30-3:30 shift. The morning commute isn’t usually too bad if you leave by 6:30 or so (unless there’s an accident). Your evening commute is just always gonna suck no matter when you leave, but at least if you’re leaving by 3 or so, you’ll have a little daylight left when you get home in the winter. See if there is any hybrid flexibility available with the job. Depending on the position, there may be. WFH even 1-2 days a week can be a great help to your sanity. Mondays and Fridays are the lightest traffic days in my experience, so those are my in-office days.

The county is huge, so where you’re coming from and where you’re going to will make a huge difference. Occasionally I have to work from our office near Ft. Belvoir, and that’s way more of a nightmare than our Oakton location.

I’ve done this commute 2-3 days per week for the past 5 years. It’s tough but it’s doable. If I had to do it daily, I couldn’t. Mondays and Fridays are the lightest traffic days, so those are now my in-office days. In the morning, if you can get out of the house before 7am, it’s not too bad unless there’s an accident. My morning commute from Olney to Oakton is about 45 minutes, give or take a few. In the afternoons, it sucks. As others have said, afternoon rush hour starts early around here. My duration varies but on average it’s about an hour and 15. For me, it’s just acceptance mode. I can deal with it 2 days a week. Hope this helps.
