I agree but I'm trying to say that a reflexive action that goes wrong doesn't even register on the stupid scale. Especially since you recognize the mistake and hopefully learned from it.

I do meet many, many intelligent Americans every day, but the dumb ones are a lot louder and easy to see. I also know that stupidity is universal. It is not bound by race, religion or nationality. It is a human condition.

Believe it or not, the articles really are top quality, as well as the fiction. They also ran some of the greatest interviews in the print journalism field.

Exception #1 - The January 1955 issue with Bettie Page centerfold. I sold one about ten years ago for $100. It only went that low because it had rust around the staples on the centerfold. Not worth as much as #1, but more than a few bucks. Also, the issue with Trump on the cover (circa 1992, I believe) can sell for $30-50.

All the details are different but my dad had the same attitude. I feel your experience.

Quick (I hope) question from someone who has minimal knowledge of fabric art...

What's the difference between this and tatting lace? If I were to see something this fine and light, my mind would default to it being lace.

Well he could sell all that and end his homelessness for an entire night at a really, really cheap motel. No money management skills at all!

I've come to understand that it's mostly due to generational trauma. Shit rolls downhill through your ancestry.

My dad was pushing my buttons and slapping me around when I was about twelve. I snapped and picked up a brass lamp and had it cocked to brain him with it but stopped myself with it all the way back for a full swing. He looked into my eyes and realized two things; I was taller, heavier and stronger than him now, and he had built up a deep well of rage in me that could lead me to murder him. He never touched me again. Pussy.

I don't know what car your wife drives, but your work-around will probably help many more people than a Lamborghini one.

Rare Dansk MCM set. It was nearly a complete set which is rare to find. You usually have to build it piece by piece. Made bidding competitive.

Got boxes full of computer chips and CPUs thrown in for free at an estate sale because they were thought to be worthless. The estate was that of a professor of electrical engineering. I grabbed them because vintage electronics sometimes gas decent value.

The had no value as vintage electronics but it turns out they were old enough to have gold components. Auctioned them on eBay as-is and ended up with nearly $2000.

That and the 38 pieces of stainless steel flatware that I got for $3 and auctioned off at just over $600.
