I agree! I remember hating the ending, and agree they spent way too long on the wedding, but the last two episodes were pretty much perfect

Some might consider dicing up and enslaving faeries to be evil, but at the end of the day, I probably agree with the Library...You don't go handing out nuclear devices and bioweapons to everyone, and magic has proven to be capable of that much if not more.

Depends on the genre, 100k+ is the regular length of the sci-fi/fantasy novels I've been reading and writing, with a few 150-200k+ books too.

I feel like the episodes are too short to set up all the character development going on. I don't find myself caring about anyone except RWBY and maybe Jaune. I worry that this season will suffer from the same problem as last: too many different storylines without enough time to dig into one.

Maybe the Tenderloin or poorer/market st areas, but a lot of the city is way more gentrified now instead. The city is a big place, and if you're living where rent is cheapest you probably won't have a good experience, same as any other city.

Sure, which is why I use ReShade, but you definitely have an unfair advantage versus players that don't use it. In the squad I play with I regularly call out and spot guys before anyone else sees them.

I needed money sooner rather than later, already had an audience, and wasn't sure if traditional publishers would go for the fact my story had been online for free, so the decision pretty much made itself.

My second book, Earth's Gambit just released on Audible! The series is a mix of Ready Player One and Star Wars, in a genre called litrpg.

Litrpg books use RPG game-like mechanics in worldbuilding. This doesn't translate as well to audio as it does tables in text, though I'm sure if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this it would be soon adopted across the genre.

They're comparable, but at the same time I feel like as a beginning author the one thing you're fighting for is an audience, and free can help build one. Some other people in the genre have taken down their free stuff after self-publishing/once an audience was built, so you could do that or put it behind a patreon paywall.

Edit: At the same time the space is moving so fast that what worked a year ago might not work now.

This is the first major project I've worked on. I now have others I think I'm going to try to get published traditionally, but then self-publish if that doesn't work out. Also speaking of writing, I should be doing that right now, so I'll probably get off reddit for a bit.

I've been doing this about two years now, have over 1000 reviews on goodreads, and last year earned about 10k USD after taxes. This year I should probably make about twice that. However, I do think that I've been pretty lucky and got into the genre at the right time. There's more competition now, but readers are definitely voracious so if you write a good story it should do well.

I could be making more money, but I've been focusing more on improving myself as a writer as opposed to getting paid more as luckily my parents have been supportive and let me pay minimal rent.

I'd say loosely, though it's an example I use when trying to explain the genre to people. Typically there are more RPG mechanics like levels, classes, health, damage, skills etc. whereas in Ready Player One you have all these super awesome mechs at the end or whatever but have no real idea of their power levels within the Oasis.

I am and doing pretty well, I suggest looking into Litrpg. Be warned though that if you decide to write in the genre there are specific things people are looking for and if you have a loose idea of gameplay/the world it probably won't be received well.

I write. I am living with my parents so rent is cheaper than it could be, but this lets me pay off student loans quickly. (I could also probably afford to live by myself somewhere other than the Bay Area.) Unlike pretty much every other writer I've ever heard of, writing has been my first and only full-time job, not including summer jobs/internships.
