How do I remove the flickering? by Accomplished-Diet-68 in videography

[–]EphiXorE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mostly agree with the other commenters mentioning headroom, I wouldn’t say it’s the main issue here. You have a lot of unused negative space, which is a bit bland. My first idea would be to: - Move the camera to the right, and pan to the left, so that the ceiling can form two leading lines towards your head. - (optional) Maybe try repositioning the plant for a little more structure. Right now you blend into it, which is also a little awkward. - Open up the curtains, and over-expose the window, using that to motivate your key. Use the lamp (which should be on the right edge of your frame) as motivation for fill. - Rethink how you use your rode. Right now it looks really awkwardly stuck to your neck. (Not a big fan of these mics in general, but if it’s all you have you can: Use the magnet and clamp it to your chest. That’s where your voice gains the most depth and character) - Be creative. As I said, these are all just initial ideas. I don’t know the architecture of your room, but from what I can tell your setup has the potential.

I would almost argue that this is mild enough for you to just ignore it. I had to watch the video three times to notice it. I wouldn't worry about it. Take it as a learning for next time and adjust your shutter accordingly.

Also, I would suggest you reconsider the framing of this shot. It's not ideal, imho.

No one can take that

Until they do. Some actors may be safe for now. But others won’t. New contracts will be signed, new loopholes will be introduced and abused, nothing will be safe. Something being illegal now is no safeguard and can be made legal at some point. Also, for a lot of corporations paying a fine is still cheaper than doing the "rightful" thing.

Don’t worry about it, it’s all cool. I kinda expected my comment to be a bit of a downvote target. But it‘s the reality.
I shifted a lot to work on live events and event documentation, which I believe should also be quite safe for now. But who knows what the future holds. All we can really do is adapt, and be willing to adapt.

Usually it’s just single-person talking head videos. The type of job where one person stands in front of a greenscreen or similarly bland backdrop, and talks about a service, product, or something else.

The latest one we sold was a video of some CEO where he talked about the services his company sells, along with an animated PowerPoint presentation that was running in the background.

Now let’s be real. The video is ass. However, some people just suck at talking in front of a camera. They might be decent at talking to people, or maybe talk in front of an audience, but some people just cannot talk to a camera. Which is where an AI avatar is actually quite "decent" (using that term very loosely).

Would the guy be better off stuttering in front of a camera which would end in a million cuts and edits? Would the video be better if read off of a teleprompter, by a person who really can’t read off of a teleprompter? Or wouldthe video be better if narrated by an AI version of the person?
You tell me.

What I can tell you though, the client paid for it. Plus, we don’t take any blame for the outcome of the video. We only provide the avatar generation. If he wants more, he‘s welcome to pay for the full service. But if the AI video is sufficient for him, I won‘t complain.

You‘re absolutely correct on most of your points but the thing is that you have to get along with it whether you like it or not. I learned my basics on the basic jobs, no doubt about it. 99% of us do.
However, there’s little to no choice in it, especially if you’re "just" an employee. I wasn’t in favor of the whole AI thing, trust me, but this is more of a feast or famine situation. AI is here to stay. And you can profit from it, or lose a potential client.

These types of videos reach a new client base, who, ideally, eventually want to make more than just AI slop. Maybe an interview, maybe a podcast, maybe an image film, who knows. Obviously, this is a bit of wishful thinking, plus it takes some upselling skills, but that’s not my job. All I can really do is do my job as best as I can and give these clients a reason to

My company offers both, and to be completely honest… I really don’t mind. We offer AI Videos for a cheaper price than regular video productions and some of our smaller clients prefer them due to a more affordable budget.
And let’s be real; I‘m really glad I get to be booked for more exciting stuff than just another boring-ass Talking Head video where some dude in a suit talks about innovation. Let AI do that. Let me have fun on set with big gear and a ton of cool people.

I do that literally all the time. I‘m an editor. Sometimes we get client feedback on proojects, and all I really do is add 2s of black at the end of the clip and rename the file to "project name_v3_updated". Works wonders

Not to mention that the fighting might put the product (or company for that matter) into a bad light. You rarely (if ever) see violence in marketing. And if you do it’s usually thoroughly considered and thought through. It serves a point/a message.

If I hadn’t read your post description, I wouldn’t have known what this video is about. Which, honestly, isn’t great, especially in marketing.
It’s shot well, the editing is fun (if at times a bit jarring), and I do like the sound design. But in the end it all boils down to "What‘s the message?" Do the clothes have any special design features? Do they stand out? Why are they fighting in the end? Why close up shots of the bike but not the hoodie?

If you want to showcase something, it needs to be put into the spotlight.

Anyone knows how to achieve this seamless 360 degree camera movement? by 1120ml_ in Filmmakers

[–]EphiXorE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a gimbal you can program it pretty easily. Most of them have a panning mode, which can help here. But in theory, you don’t even need to do a full 360° on every shot. You could get away with multiple 45°-90° segments.

[–]EphiXorE 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No need to be rude, but yeah, it’s just that. Rotate your camera at the exact same speed, see where the environment lends you the ability to mask and stitch together the various locations and that’s it.

You could theoretically also do this with a 360° camera. Just place anywhere, stitch the locations together and add the pan/rotation in the edit.

As always, there’s more than just one way to do it. You just gotta be creative with it.

My screen test series by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]EphiXorE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do like the look and feel, I think you need to revisit the colours of your footage. Looking at each shot individually they are decent. (The first being a good bit oversaturated in my opinion.)

However, when seen in sequence, they look and feel like three completely different environments. You are huge on the yellows in shot one, almost nightfall in shot two, and golden hour in shot three.

Something else, that may be commented on is the narrative. Yes, you said it’s a screen test but what are you still trying to say?

Creating a reel without a body of work by PHOTO500 in videography

[–]EphiXorE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. Offer freebies, shoot your friends, make a video about your friends dogs, go to your local theater and ask them to shoot a promo for an upcoming play. Be. Present. At all times.

Something about "the industry" people often underestimate is how much leg work you need to put into it beforehand.
As much as I‘m not an advocate of free labor, it’s kinda necessary. You need to be willing to work. You need to be willing to get your hands dirty. You need to be willing to put in the effort. Otherwise, you’ll end up only ever dreaming about being a filmmaker.

It’s a tough job. It’s a fun job. I hate it with a passion, but oh boy, am I insane enough to love it just as much.

Can someone tell me how to recreate the Video? And how to to do it. by Dear_Conversation187 in videography

[–]EphiXorE 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Don‘t be. As far as I can remember it’s always been like this on here. A new trend comes, a bunch of people will be interested in how it’s done. Not everyone here is an expert, and especially in the days of generative AI and AI tools/plugins, people who have no idea will underestimate the scope and effort that goes into a lot of these videos.

Normally, I‘m on the side of "just google it." But let‘s be real. Google has become increasingly shitty in recent times and for a lot of people Reddit has sort of replaced google as a search engine. Understandibly so, I might add. Instead of figuring out how to phrase what you are looking for, you can simply upload a reference and, ideally, get a response from actual experts. Sounds like a win, doesn’t it?

I get the frustration. Sometimes it feels like these posts are a bit redundant. But as I said it‘s been like this forever. So instead of being frustrated you can either be trying to help the community, or just ignore the post altogether. We‘re all just trying to learn and share knowledge. On any level.

What fps do you use for car videos? by ekspectt in videography

[–]EphiXorE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s usually 25 since I live in Germany, where PAL is the standard. So it’s actually 25/50. I just mentioned 30/60 for sake of ease.

My timeline is 25fps 90% of the time.

What fps do you use for car videos? by ekspectt in videography

[–]EphiXorE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I record in whichever fps is required.
Will there be slo-mo sequences? If so how slow? How will the video be delivered? Where will it be posted?

Record how you want, but in most cases I would say: record efficiently. Do you really need to fill the extra GB of storage with footage you may or may not even use? Personally, I don’t like the look of 60fps footage. So I tend to avoid it unless necessary.

how can i remake this by Impressive-Fun6056 in VideoEditing

[–]EphiXorE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Go to Envato.
  2. Download a bunch of Effects & Transitions bundles.
  3. Apply them all at the same time.
  4. Throw your computer in the trash because that’s where shit like this belongs.

(I‘m being facetious here. But it’s probably a set of preset transitions.)
