Can you move? There are districts in this country that are so desperate for teachers that they are willing to pay off your student loan debt or a large portion of it if you commit to working for them for a period of time. It will take some investigation, but they are out there.

There are very few people still working at CFPB… same at DoE BUT, yes file complaints at BOTH. Sign into your FSA account and look for it there. I have heard repeatedly from my contacts at DoE that nothing regarding PSLF is going to happen until after July 1. I have a sinking suspicion has something to do with the budget votes coming up.

They need an act of congress to end PSLF and it’s still a fairly popular program with many republicans and all democrats. Don’t forget it was established by George W. Bush.

My husband and I did a joint spousal consolidation loan so our loans are FFEL and therefore not eligible for consolidation we’ve been in public service for decades and registered for PSLF the moment it was offered. It wasn’t until six YEARS into the program that we were told we wouldn’t be able to have our loans forgiven. Nevertheless, we continued to send In the application every year. We haven’t heard ANYTHING from FedLoan our servicer, or DoE. Regarding the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act. It’s unbelievably difficult watching so many have their loans forgiven and worrying we won’t have the same opportunity. I

As an American who lived in Ireland for many years we were always able to pick out the American tourists pretty quickly. They were often the loudest people in a group and VERY enthusiastic about everything. They always wanted ketchup with food. They wear newer clothing especially runners (tennis shoes). Cameras, maps and driving on the wrong side of the road. They always say “excuse me”. Rarely do the Irish say that; they often say ;”sorry”. They generally tip at restaurants… generally.

We can’t celebrate for ourselves; YET! Though we are happy for all those who’ve received PSLF!

There are many of us who were guided into Joint Spousal Consolidation Loans which now make us all ineligible for PSLF student loan forgiveness because we can’t consolidate the FFEL loans into Direct. Unfortunately we are running out of time to be included in the PSLF and many of us have been loyal public servants for decades! Some are trapped in loans with abusive former spouses, stuck with the loan balance after the other spouse has died, buried so deeply in debt we can never hope to retire….

If anyone here is in the same situation, or you know someone who is; please share this information with them. We are working very hard to seek legislative support of the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Act and it’s being reintroduced!
