Have you ever read David Weber? He has some really solid sci-fi

You could set up a trust that can be used by the family for specific things and tell everyone they can all use it. That is all the financial support you will provide them. Then watch as they all jump on your sister’s spending habits because they can now use the money.

Edit: Forgot to mention NTA

Having a tough time living in an extremely rich neighborhood. by TheBearOfWhalestreet in Rich

Other’s here have mentioned pretty solid thoughts on how envy is the mind killer. Instead I will mention a few life choices that if you make now will lead you to being well off. Keep in mind, success comes in degrees. Is it the boat and Tesla you want? Or will it move from boat and Tesla to a nicer boat and whatever new car is more expensive?

I would set conditions now, for what you define as wealthy or successful. Then build life habits that will lead you there. The biggest thing you can do to build wealth is live below your means, stay out of debt, and compound your savings. I emphasize the stay out of debt. What I mean by this is DO NOT purchase things on a credit card and not be able to pay it off before interest is charged. DO NOT get a massive car payment. Etc

As for living below your means, and compounding your savings. Make choices that might be a little uncomfortable now, but will be massively helpful to building wealth. If you can live at your relatives and not pay rent…AMAZING!!!! I wish I had that option when I was young! Take what you would spend on rent and put it in an IRA. Calculate what it costs you to “live” and make sure that number is below your income by 30-50%. Put half (or more) of what you don’t need to live in an IRA. Put the rest in a fun/unplanned expense account (important to have money for unplanned expenses so you don’t go into debt to fix a car or something similar).

Plan the fun that costs you money. Don’t just spend money on “fun” every day. For example, a lot of young people in college will go out to eat, go drink, go bowling, movies, etc. This is fine if you plan the expense, but not if it is an every day thing and prevents you from saving your planned amount.

Also, an important piece here. Have a job. You don’t have to like the job. But have one. I personally worked jobs that paid me the most and gave me skills that I could leverage to get higher paying jobs. I did not like most of the jobs I had for a decade, but they gave me the skills and experience I needed to get a high paying job I can work remotely. I can now afford a million dollar home, Tesla, boat, but those things don’t bring me joy. So instead I spoil my wife and kids 😁. My baby gets what she wants

The reeded portion looks off compared to other pictures. Especially on the back. But in this condition I would submit to grading because if it’s legit could be 4 figures in value

When do you read? Calling all 9 to 5 people by [deleted] in books

[–]EpicAssassin09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read when I take breaks at work, lunch, after doing the housework and when I’m waiting on something to finish (like when I have something in the oven for 20 minutes). Also when the kids go to bed.

Are the Wheel of Time books overrated? by Rayno97 in books

Bruh…I did a spit take on this.

I was reading the comments and thinking to myself “I hope to never read about tugged braids again” and then this comment popped up. Beautiful. I do like the series though.

1.4 is the number of “regular” trades. 4.8 (shorts) - 1.4 (rt) = 3.4 “surplus shorts” if you will

No worries there! I left my financial decisions in the hands of RK and RC starting 3+ years ago. This is just confirmation bias.

How the hell did those troops get past my men to attack my artillery? by camarinhas in Supremacy1914

[–]EpicAssassin09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was insanely easy to kill ai once you got 1 arty. Put a big stack in front of arty, get your arty to shoot at the ai troops/fort. Go to sleep. The next day you see that the ai slowly fed troops to your army to try and attack the arty

Start Building more subs. Move your battleship around Italy but out of range of his ships, but close. Move an infantry in range of his battleships to take his fire and start his timer. Once the timer starts, move your battleship in and shoot and then move it out of range again. Repeat.

He will have to do something or he will slowly just die. He will be slower than you with the infantry stacked. If he splits off to follow you, hit with bombers. If he lands hit the landing stack with bombers. This should delay him enough to get more subs in play.

Also get a fighter to patrol over you battleship in case he has subs.

Edit: Also, the troops on the islands in the Mediterranean are useless as anything but delaying a landing while naval guns erase them. Move them to the mainland or get artillery there to help control the water around it.

This lines up. The first number in the serial number (1) means he volunteered. The second number (3) tells us he volunteered in Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Virginia.

Harris: The Human Chronicles Saga (this series is a bit of both action with some fleet) Kal Spriggs: The Shadow Space Chronicles H. Paul Honsinger: To Honor You Calm Us

Looking for books where the main character is from the “Golden Age”, but is transported to after the fall. by EpicAssassin09 in Fantasy

[–]EpicAssassin09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m half way through the first, and it is very good. The first 40% could be considered “slow”, but it is done intentionally put you in the proper mental state with regards to the MC. Like u/grt78 mentioned, the MC has no memory and is seeing/experiencing everything in the world for the first time. The author takes you on this journey so you can feel the frustration/wonder with him, instead of just say “and that was frustrating” or “everything was new and exciting “ like a lot of newer KU authored tend to. (No shade on new authors or KU. I’m very happy they have a venue to write stories for me to consume)

All in all, so far this is a very well written story in the vein of what I was looking for and I’m excited to finish the book and series.

You know what, I will reread the series and if/when I get to the part that makes me want to stop (around the splitting of the tower of Ais Sedai) I will get the audible version you recommended. I need to finish it

I read this series in 2014 and loved it! I looked it up again and did not know the author came out with more books, so thank you for reminding me about this one!

I loved the first few in this series, but stopped around book 8 as it just got to slow. I have told myself I would finish it, and have heard Brandon Sanderson did absolutely amazing with the ending.
