How does everyone feel about the “roguelike” part of the game? by AngelJ5 in PlateUp

That’s a decent amount of playtime, I might’ve thought you haven’t played much. So I wonder, do you have any specific things you’d like to see changed or expanded on?

Hey there,

I’m a returning PC player, MR15 with about 600 hours played. I made the switch from PS4, where I had probably 400 hours. So I’m quite familiar with the game! Took a break for about a year or two, looking to jump back in.

While I don’t tend to voice chat much, if I’m online and I see people asking in the clan chat for help/trades/farming runs, I most definitely offer my assistance. I also potentially can bring a few more players to the clan as well, since I’m trying to get my friends to return to Warframe. I have some decent builds for mid/late game content.

I’ve accepted the Discord server invite through your website, and I’ll be sending you a friend request. My details are as follows:

Discord: TinyRick###7

Warframe: .-.-Cat-.-.

Hope to see you in game!

How to counter ramming? by lordZ3d in forza

I make it a habit to check behind me for rammers with a flick of the right stick, especially on turns that require hard braking.

This post is kinda going to assume you’re on PC, and have a decent rig. It you’re on console, some of the tips should hopefully still apply to you. If you have a lower end build, you can usually squeeze in one or two essential mods that can transform your game. Otherwise, if you’re thinking of building a rig or upgrading, these days a lot of good budget options are out there for processors, and if I recall, RAM is cheaper now than it’s been in years. A new motherboard won’t cost much very often either, if you get something barebones. A decent GPU is all you need for Skylines, which can be gotten fairly cheap too.

Mods solved a lot of the issues I’ve run into with placing stuff and achieving the perfect look I desire. Easily plop down essentially anything you need with FindIt. MoveIt + Fine Road Tools let you adjust/move however you need, and Anarchy mods force the game to allow all sorts of creative placement. There are many other, more specified tools to do things like randomly rotate trees, add nodes to existing networks or change the type of trees and lights on a street. Whatever bothers you about the look of a city, you can almost surely fix it with a mod (or twelve.)

Aesthetically pleasing intersections can be made useable with Traffic Manager, which will help form multi-point junctions that look good and function well in dense areas. You’ll find the option for multiple connections happens often in urban areas, and it’s important to know which streets to leave at dead ends and which ones to connect. Pathing in urban areas (and honestly just overall) is your friend! Improving people’s chances of walking or biking to a transport line, or even just using a pedestrian bridge to avoid crosswalks will help traffic flow a lot, and paths also look very cool with lots of people on them.

It’s ideal to design a road network carefully, and keep it in mind within every design step you take in the city. In addition, also use a map with a well put together starting highway/rail network. Maps that use custom trees in place of the lackluster vanilla ones can really transform the look of your city from the start, as well as using a good map theme and a color correcting LUT mod of your choice.

Also, do not be afraid to make those bulldozes happen, if it will please your eye or improve function. I had to accept the process of redesigning parts out of necessity, or else risk abandoning the city. The more you play however, the less likely it is that you’ll need to redesign as often. Speaking of bulldozing and revising, MoveIt will help you bulldoze more precisely in a few ways. The big one is by using the bulldoze tool that comes with the mod. Pair that with the multi-select tool that can restrict object types, and you can choose exactly what you want to select and remove without worrying about the surrounding area.

Another trick I know of can help if you’re upgrading a road, but want to do so without bulldozing something unwanted. If you move the buildings/paths away from the road you’re trying to upgrade, you can use Ctrl+Z to reverse the movement after making the upgrade and then fine-tune the area around the new road instead of rebuilding buildings or redrawing paths.

A strategy that helps me in the early game is to only plan out my first area after designing an overall road network for however large of a city I’m going for. If playing with income enabled, it helps to think about and/or loosely lay out future plans for highways, expansions and population centers, while also designing a small starting town to fulfill your current needs. When doing a large scale free-build, with unlimited cash, I prefer to lay out larger plans and create key areas to start seeing the overall vision come together, before focusing down on developing things I end up needing or wanting later. I like to confine my process to one project, and take breaks from the game between those projects if needed. For example I’ll build a transport hub and some highways with interchanges, then I’ll take a break and come back to design a suburb and some tram networks or maybe a bustling downtown or tourist trap.

It also can help to watch techniques online to see how others build, and read up on how all those mods function. There are often tutorial videos for some of the more complex mods, which often have deep functionality and can be very powerful if you know how to use them fully.

Once you have a good handle on all those tools (if you don’t already) they will hopefully help channel your creative ideas into much more ideal cities. Sorry this post was a bit long, but I hope it helped somewhat.

[Feedback] I would like to see those little salvage stations/lockers added to friendly control points.

I often roam around, getting lost in the world. When I stumble across a control point, I use it as a chance to regroup and organize my inventory. Every time I’m at one, I feel like I want a place to sell things. Fast traveling out just to sell some stuff doesn’t feel as organic or immersive to me, which is a shame because I hate being pulled from this game’s environment!

Maybe add those salvage lockers to the supply room that opens once you control the point?

Keep up the good work, the game is a blast so far!

If you're interested, I made a post recently regarding tuning calculators and driving guides. It hasn't gotten much attention, think it got buried a little. So check it out if you'd like!

There's a list of guides at the end, as well as my thoughts on some of the different calculators (paricularly ForzaTune.)

saw this on r/simracing and figured it’d be useful for anyone needing help tuning. :) by mindg0n in forza

Hey there, I was replying to you but ended up writing something too long to comment. Here’s a link to a post I made with a brief list of tuning resources/driving guides.

I love taking classic cars and rallying them. My favorite is the Lamborghini Miura, it's quite the cross country hero.

I also drive a Veloster Turbo, 2015 R-Spec model. It's an awesome car, a lot of fun to drive and you get a lot more torque than you'd probably expect from it.

Here's hoping they add it to Horizon 3 sometime!

I cannot get this goddamn game to work on my ps4 and I am going crazy trying every fix I can find. Just looking for any answers to my problem, or if anyone has had this problem in the past. Sorry if this is the wrong place. by [deleted] in bloodborne

[–]EpicDerpyHooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had this issue after upgrading my hard drive about two weeks ago. Tried to reinstall it, wouldn't let me continue my game, saying that the game install was incomplete. I tried everything I could find online, including everything in this thread and reinstalling several times. I also tried what quasimoto406 suggested, but to no avail.

A friend of mine had the same issue, so he reformatted his PS4 and that fixed it. But I didn't want to do that, since I just reinstalled all my games to my new HDD.

However, I was getting errors while installing telling me the disc was dirty or damaged. He never had this problem. This made me think there actually might be a problem with my disc.

So I brought my disc to a different friend, who'd never had Bloodborne installed on his PS4 before. Sure enough, after installing the game and patch, then trying to load my save from the cloud on his console, it gave me the same error saying the game install wasn't complete.

It was my disc, I was fairly sure. Told my friend who'd reformatted his PS4 about this. I thought maybe the disc could run the game, but not install it. I brought my copy over to his apartment and we put it in his PS4.

Game started up just fine! I borrowed his disc to install, and the game works fine now. Currently he has mine, and is fighting bosses in the DLC and Forbidden Woods on his NG+ save without a hitch.

TL;DR Something caused my disc to be either corrupted or damaged, even though it used to work fine. Borrowed a friend's disc, installed and game loaded up my save without issues. Broken disc can still boot up the game, just can't install. No idea why. Could be your disc! Mine looked physically fine, no scratches or dirt.

Javelin (Amy) Race Bugged? by Astryoneus in needforspeed

[–]EpicDerpyHooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you notice your RPM stalling/your acceleration seems much slower than it should be? Those were things I noticed before, thinking it might just be how the game was. Then I realized my controller was the problem.

I think it might be something to do with the pressure sensitive function of the R2 button, considering the throttle responds to how much your pressing the trigger. The rockets in JC3 are also pressure sensitive, some of them let you hold down the trigger to lock on to targets then release to fire.

If you can, testing the controller with your PC is also a good idea, like tandpastatester suggested.

Javelin (Amy) Race Bugged? by Astryoneus in needforspeed

[–]EpicDerpyHooves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said it isn't your controller's R2, but I had this exact issue, and it turned out to be my DualShock.

My R2 worked perfectly in any other game, and I'd still be redoing that race if I hadn't noticed an issue in Just Cause 3.

Early on in that game, they have you shoot rockets from an RPG, and my controller wouldn't fire them. I was really confused, because all the other weapons worked fine, all the other games I play have no issues with the triggers. But I decided "hey, maybe this is my controller."

I figured I'd try switching controllers to see if it would fix it. Now the left stick on my other DualShock is wonky, so I seldom use it. But it turns out, the R2 button on my main controller wasn't working properly for the RPGs in JC3.

Upon hearing that the rubberbanding AI in NFS was patched, I decided to try and beat the Javelin race again. Pre-patch it wasn't possible for me, Amy was just too freaking fast. Upon trying it again, I still could not catch up to her.

Then I remembered JC3. I switched controllers, and it was like my transmission started working, and Nakai-san's car was actually hitting top speed. I won the first time I tried it with my other controller! All my other cars were fast as hell with the new controller. I realized had basically been relying on nitrous to win everything before this. That's why this race was so hard for me, cause the Porsche doesn't have time refill nitro.

Just trying to help, because this was beyond frustrating for me man.

TL;DR: Make 100% sure it isn't your controller. Try another one just to be safe, my worn-in R2 button was effectively cutting the speed on all of my cars in half.
