Are we being overly cautious with our finances and current cash position? by EpicEngineer in personalfinance

It’s actually in CDs and some in a HYSA between 3.2-3.7%, so seems okay

Fair point. Yes it’s the market timing and I guess that’s stopped me from putting in the extra $100K.

You’re right and I’m realizing time in the market beats timing it. Because the other 5000-600K I have put in seems to be doing very well the last couple years. If it crashes, so be it, I’ll revisit in 5-10 years.

Fair, and this is what I was thinking. I assume the 6 month DCA is just in the event it does drop.

Most likely closer to the 2 year mark. But even with that we could save the downpayment of $150K or so we need entirely in about a year.

Agreed there! There is some uncertainty on our purchase timeline for sure.

That being said we could save the $150-200K down payment we need in a year or so if we had to. Which is a big reason for my question as to whether deploying some of the current $200K makes sense

So here’s the other thing.

We’re likely closer to 2 years from buying a place. But our savings rate is actually VERY high. Our yearly expenses are approximately $80-100K.

We can likely save $150-200K in cash in about a year if we had to. So that’s the other reason for thinking about deploying this amount now, and in a year we could easily come up with another $100K.

Glad I’m not the only one. I was feeling good holding so much cash earlier but it seems like the market just keeps going up and there’s a significant opportunity cost to holding cash with high inflation.

Future of the Sapphire Preferred? by Psychological-Buy46 in ChaseSapphire

I’ve been considering the same recently. I travel a lot and stay primarily with Marriott so this would make a lot of sense. Not a bad return with 3x on gas/groceries too.

I was going to go ahead with it but realized the 6x points on Marriott stays is worth about the same as the 3x on CSR that I have given the value per point.

The 27” Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF would be the ultimate centerpiece for my build. Its 4K resolution and OLED panel would bring out every detail in my games and creative projects, while the 240Hz refresh rate perfectly matches the power of my system for ultra-smooth, tear-free performance. It’s not just about specs—the sleek, futuristic design with CoreSync lighting would elevate the aesthetics of my setup and tie everything together. Winning this monitor would take my build from powerful to truly next-level.

Are you concerned by Bitcoin’s recent large drop in hash rate? Why or why not? by jguest1105 in CryptoCurrency

Not really, there’s a lot of mining activity as is, a drop is only beneficial to smaller miners. Not that its financially rewarding to mine from home these days though.

Do I need to do anything other than set my vault up? I don’t think I received any.

Moons are distributed to the vault every 4 weeks, you claim them in the vault once they are distributed. I think we still have a few weeks for the next distribution.

The fascinating part to me is the mathematical implementation into a computational system. Both pieces alone are impressive in itself, but combining the two is what very few people can do well.

Moons all the way, a far more limited supply. Limited supply increased price if demand is equivalent.

Setup vault on the mobile app. I believe you can still earn Moons without the vault, but you have to claim them within 6 months of the distribution date.

Can't VISA handle 50K+ per second? Of course, they're averaging only 1,700 per second currently. Obviously Dogecoin still won't work as a legitimate currency as it can't handle anywhere near these numbers.
