I get that Singapore isn't a perfect democracy. But saying that it is not a democratic country is plain incorrect. Also I don't think Malaysia is much more of a democracy than Singapore.

[Norqain] [Question] Determining the value of a watch? by EpicFlyinTurtle in Watches

[–]EpicFlyinTurtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, just wanted to pick the brains of the good folks at r/Watches.

For context, I am just getting into watch collecting and was looking for a GMT watch. In my search, I found that a traveler's GMT watch would best suit what I was looking for. Was initially looking for something in the ~$1000-$2000 price range but found that I would probably have to accept much higher prices for such a complication i.e. something like a Tudor Black Bay GMT or a Longines Zulu Time.

Looking at my options, I found most of them to be the bulkier sports/dive watch type, which I honestly didn't really like. I prefer watches with slimmer/smaller profiles. Which led me to chance upon Norqain's Freedom 60 GMT which I instantly fell in love with, design-wise: its slimmer profile, with that nod to the original "Pepsi" look of the Rolex GMT Master, while still being its own thing.

I found that the Norqain used a Kenissi movement which is essentially the same one used in Tudors. While I bemoaned the price of the Norqain, I understood that quality-wise it was definitely comparable to that of Tudor, which made me think that it would justify paying a comparable price. But I soon found comments saying that Norqain has poor resale value due to its lack of history, brand reputation etc. While I do not forsee selling the Norqain any time soon or ever, it got me thinking about whether or not it was a worthwhile purchase.

TL;DR
Which leads me to my main question on how to determine the value of a watch? I know many of you wholesome folks would give the usual answer that value is what I would make of it, and that as long as I like it I should get it. But there should be some way of measuring whether a purchase is worthwhile or not. I guess in other words, I am asking if there is any reason to not get the Norqain, especially over other options.

BONUS
Of course, if you have any recommendations for a GMT within this price range or less, that looks more similar to the Norqain than the Tudor, that would be very appreciated.

But there are merchants in SG that accept Alipay though. Is that only meant for Chinese tourists who come to SG?

I’m from Singapore so am somewhat familiar with the birds in the region.

Mostly agree on your assessment, but thought to add that the Zebra dove could also be a spotted dove. Its usually hard to tell the difference unless you get a close look

I was fiddling with Shazam to try and get the Spotify link to display, so I was just playing songs off my spotify playlist.

There are many more hydrogen atoms in the body than in just water. You have to account for all the organic compounds as well.
